The LG 42LV5500 will only be produced in the 42" size. It will contain the extremely valuable Magic Wand remote control for use with the SmartTV (Internet Apps) features. Further, it is 1080p and Wifi ready with the Wifi adapter included in the price. It moves up a notch in HZ rate to 120Hz (LG calls this feature TruMotion). It contains all of the basic LG LED TV feaure but with these upgrades. DLNA certification is present.

We reviewed the magic wand remote at CES 2011 and are impressed with its fast flexible functionality. The point and click application was spot on from the IR remote. Even typing is fast.

The new SmartTV options include currently around 120 Internet Apps with 20 of those being premium services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon VOD. It has a special gaming app called I-play which is effective for gamers. The SmartTV function has a full web browswer through a proprietary LG platform.

The TV is black gloss with a nice thin bezel frame and about 2" depth.
Internet Applications and Connectivity

LG is renaming its Internet Apps this year from "Netcast Entertainment" to "SmartTV." There is a simple dashboard contained on the TV menu screen allowing for selection of TV Live, Premium Content, TV Apps, and a Launch Bar. The LG 42LV5500 series has LGs new Smart TV Internet TV features meaning that will be able to access all of LG's Internet Apps. Some of the highlighted Internet TV providers are Netflix, Vudu, Cinema Now, You Tube, Hulu Plus. But in addition this year it looks like there will be several partners in the sports industry to stream live sports programming, allowing viewers to follow their favorite teams, stream in HD quality broadcasts, and generally be able to tailor their sports viewing more to their own preferences. More options equal more satisfaction right?

better to have a magic remote which is in reality included with the tv than to have none at all compared to what is currently being offered by other brands.

moreover, since it is a smart tv, developing programs for compatible use between other devices and the smart tv is very very possible. im sure madali lang gumawa ng keyboard app for this.

by the way, meron na app sa itunes for use sa iphone / ipod touch that lets you control the TV using your apple device.

and to think kaka-launch palang nitong model na ito. pretty good buy, in my opinion.

The platform also includes the Web Browser, so users no longer need to turn on their laptop to access the internet. With this feature, news, reviews and a host of other content can be viewed directly on the television screen.

big question is aabot ba un apps dito sa pinas since baka region dependent na naman yan.
tamad pa man din magupdate ng fw at apps yun region dito. sa US i think fw 8 na sila samantalang sa pinas e fw 3 pa din with 3 apps hehe.
