Topic: Yamaha DSP A1 still viable?

Bro Allan, curious lang since you just sold your very Yammy speakers recently, ano ipapalit mo? Perfect combi sana itong A1 dun sa speakers. Very detailed kasi yun perfect for HT plus the power and SQ of the A1.

Just hook up the HDMI directly to TV and yung sound via coaxial or optic. Kung may multi channel input then get a player that has all the format and hook it up to the multi channel and again connect the HDMI video only directly to TV...

ng mabasa ko toh, parang napapaisip ako na kunin ko na lang yung yamaha at ako na lang ang gagamit.. kung meron lang way i-integrate yung hdmi sa dsp-a1..meron kayang ganon?

pwede brader, buy an hdmi splitter with remote, tapos i-tape mo back-to-back yung remotes ng a1 at ng splitter, integrated na sila.

I was able to listen to this amplifier powering a PSB bookshelf yesterday together with bro Zephyr, we tried different combination like adding a tube pre-amp and all I can say is that it is really a very warm sounding amp and with the tube pre-amp, the sound become more detailed. After our session, I spent another 2 hours listening to it with my soon to be sold sansui speaker  ..and still the same, it really gave that warm and detailed music.

And now, my dilemma is whether to sale my onkyo 606 to get this amp

I know the feeling brader... ganyang-ganyan ako noon nung pinarinig sa akin ni Dexter (kefq) yung DSP-A1 nya driving a 120k b&w 805, muntik na tumulo laway ko noon, hehehe napatunganga na lang ako hanggang sa dun na ako nag-lunch sa kanila   after that, nag-scout na ako ng DSP-A1 at binenta ko agad ang wala pang 1 month na Onkyo 505 avr ko noon... yan ang isa sa mga perfect tawagin na "Oldies but Goodies"

I've finally acquired an HD-audio capable receiver and have been tinkering with the set-up the past 3 days.

I swear sa deities of sound, but mas mabangis pa rin talaga ang sound ng aking DSP-AX1.  Adjective to describe the difference, "more dense" ang sound coming from the AX1 than my new Onkyo1008 - punong-puno talaga.  I really didnt know what to expect when I finally switched the speakers but I was even more amazed at the AX1 in the end.

In any case, I like and enjoy the rich gadgetry and very cool functions of current-day AVRs - and finally, I saw blue "HD" lights instead of dim yellow/green indications.  hehehe.  I bought the Onkyo1008 because it truly sounded nice during my 4 weekends of testings at Labi Main Store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.  The 1008 is an upper mid-range receiver pero iba nga pala talaga ang sound quality and signature kapag flagship model kahit gaano kaluma, and kapag pinagtabi mo ang flagship sa iba.

Bottom line, keep your A1, A2, AX1, AX2 til the end of time unless you can afford something like the Z7, Z9 or Z11.
