How to hook non hdmi pc/laptop to hdtv

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to start this thread. I want to hook my non hdmi pc/laptop to my lcdtv
but i dont have idea on how to do it and what particular cable should i use. I hope someone could help.

usually non-HDMI laptops has S-video to connect to external display, or VGa-VGA connection.
