Has anyone tried watching using BD-R's or BD-RW's?  This is a test worth making, I think.

How many people do you know own Blu-Ray writers?

None.

But I'm thinking BD-R's are the only way to play large filesizes on this player.

Does it support multi-channel flac? Im thinking of getting one soon, hopefully it can accept streaming, or recognize network drives/nas as local drive. :)

I'll try to find my BD-R copy of Robin Hood (2010) starring Russel Crowe, although I do remember encountering intermittent framerate (i.e. stuttering) issues with it when I first played it on my PS3.
Going 3D, at last! (And I don't care it it's a fad.)

Plus 1000+ on this!  I've been contemplating with this player if it can stream and access network resources (e.g. NAS - network attached storage).

Can someone test please?   ;D

Tested a couple of BD-Rs and all played fine.  It even played some BD-Rs that my PS3 Slim would not play.

Some of the PBD in the market used BD-R & they all playback without any problem ;)

Sadly, there does not seem to be an option to scan the network, or to map drives. If you're looking for a bluray player that can do this, your best bet is a PS3.

On a happy note, it can play my BD-R backup of Resident Evil Afterlife which is Cinavia protected.  It seems this player currently does not implement the Cinavia detection scheme.

Hello, guys

I'm new here.  I'm planning to buy a NAS (network attached storage) - still looking but eyeing on Western Digital My Book World Edition II.
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=290

Now since this player has an ethernet port (a.k.a LAN port), does this support video streaming  (e.g. AVI) via network?  Basically, all my videos will be stored in my NAS server.  Can someone test this?  THank you!

Good to hear all the feedback.  It seems that this player currently trumps the branded ones in terms of functionality.  At its price, I don't think any other player comes close in terms of functionality.

One glaring con: No one knows how to upgrade the firmware, if needed.

It can't recognize NTFS drives, which my LG BD550 does. So how can you claim it trumps branded players? It's cheap yeh, and has no competition in it's price level.

Didn't know that there was a branded player out there which could read NTFS drives. I'll just call it the current bang-for-the-buck choice for BD-players then.  ;)

Btw, has anyone tried ext3/ext4 support on the CD-R King bd player?

1 question on this units DVD upscaling. Is the DVD upscaling comparable to a pioneer DVD upscale player?

I just hope soon CD-R King will sell a blu ray player with wifi capabilities and built in digital recorder hard drive. I guess this is asking for too much! ;D Nonetheless, I will get and buy this player soon!

Most mainstream branded BD players can read NTFS drives. My Samsung C5500 can do so, without the problems experienced with the Inception BD (from page 4 ata). But one minor issue I have is that its less forgiving compared to playing media files from my Xtreamer.

This would be interesting, if it does. (I know for a fact that the Promac HDV-1000s media player and streamer fully reads my seagate 320GB portable drive with an ntfs, and two ext3 linux partitions.)

Pity that it's NOT multi-region Blu-ray, that would be the only reason I would ever consider buying this player.

Let's be real here, apart from the Branded items, all their stuff is cheap Chinese mass produced "Crap". Most of their stuff dies or falls apart 24 hours after there warranty ends (strange that hey?)

True. I think I'm lucky, though. This BD player of theirs is performing exactly the way I want it with very little issue, if you could call it that. This will do until I get a serious player. Maybe a PS3 in a few months.

Then again, my brother just got a pair of Micro SD cards from them that didn't work. He returned them in exchange for another mem card. May sukli pa.  ;D

Point being, treat these guys as our local version of Radio Shack. If you need something essential, get a reliable brand from another merchant. I often just get products from them which I combine for DIY projects.

The second from last time I went into my local CDR King there were 7 members of staff all ignoring me so being a proud Brit I shout out loudly "When I walk into a store I expect to be fucking served, doesn't anyone want my Fucking money?" Needless to say they came a running. The last time I visited the same branch they came straight up to me without having to be asked. Nuff said.
