The Kennedys

Anyone watching this controversial miniseries?

With the exception of Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy (I wonder what idiot casting director thought that would be a good idea?), I think the cast is quite good, particularly Tom Wilkinson as Joe Kennedy.

As for the story, it takes numerous liberties with history, but I think it makes the drama (or rather, melodrama) a lot more fun as a result. The basic history they present is correct, though. Just not the circumstances surrounding the events.  :D

I'm enjoying this as a dramatic miniseries in the tradition of the "great" miniseries of the 1980s - Rich Man, Poor Man; The Thorn Birds; etc. Trashy but entertaining.

As usual Tom Wilkinson's portrayal as the family patriarch is magnificent. For me it is the saving grace of the show.
