Starting a users list for Rii-Series (R180PRO, R1-ii, R200ii+, R200ii-PRO) out there.

Q: What do Egreat R1-ii, R200ii,R180 all use the same firmware?
A: aside from the realtek 1185 chip , same firmware across the family simplifies upgrades and support.

Q: Where do they differ?
A: the approach on disks and wifi
~~R1-ii are all external
~~R180P are internal 3.5", pullout plastic tray
~~R180P PRO are internal 3.5", pullout plastic tray (dual antenna wifi for greater reception)
~~R200ii+ use internal 3.5" lever type aluminum tray (great for us who switch disks open)
~~R200ii+PRO are internal 3.5", plever type aluminum tray + wifi builtin)

Q: will 3TB disk work on Rii Series?
A: << if you have one, please test and let us know>>)

Q: will USB or wireless USB keyboard/mouse work for browsing?
A: Yes!

Q: Does USB 3.0 external drives or docks work with Rii-series?
A: Yes all USB 3.0 are compatible with USB 2.0

Q: Does USB 3.0 provide faster ports to transfer data INTO the NMT?
A: yes, as long as you have a USB 3.0 on your PC.

Q: Other players already have USB 3.0 slave port, do i need it for playback?
A: for playback USB 2.0 should be ok. and no you have little use on USB 3.0 unless you want your PC that is capable of handling USB 3.0 ports to transfer files to your NMT.

With R1ii, R180pro and R200iiplus out there,

Pleased to say, we have the 1st R200ii plus Pro with a PDVD user just today. firmware flashed, test contents i'll give him next week.

If you like thumbgen and you have an egreat:

a. i did make a template for egreat @1920x1080. Its nothing fancy, just added the egreat logo sa baba. But i asked for a more sassy graphic rendition ng egreat logo and text so it fits the background na black.

b. If you are on S-Series (Sigma), you'd love the coverart since its really fast(explaining your miniature.hide files and the list is equally cool, just make sure you get a highres cover.jpg from thumbgen, which you can scale 2x the normal size, this way, the cover shows in fine resolution at 1980x1080 screens.

run you disks on thumbgen and get let it change your cover.jpg with a higher res one (i used 2x the normal size and it showed really nice in my list with coverpage pane at the left).

Thanks Sir! Elegante yung all Silver na Unit! Ang ganda ng built nya at mukhang built to last! Na test ko na kagabi few AVI at 720p files, smooth na smooth at ganda ng PQ. Mas natuwa ako nung iconnect ko sya sa Wireless LAN. Ansarap pala mag Youtube sa 42inch

Di ko pa masyadong napaglaruan dahil medyo late na din

antay ko nalang yung mga Test Contents mo Next week

Overall, im satisfied with my choice of NMT! Thanks and more power.

Selling is a small libangan para sa kabraders naten yan, serbisyo publiko sa mga taong busy.Nice to meet you bro.

R200 is a tank as we call em, lalu na yung R200iiplus Pro. very sleek at di hamak na mas ok ang Red Times UI nya.

mga pwedeng kalikutin:
a. mag surf with a wireless mouse and keyboard
b. mag install ng thumbgen ng lalung gumanda ang thumbnail list niya (its one of THE FASTEST thumbnail list amongst the players)
c. after autoscanning a full disk, thumbnailing it with thumbgen, ayos ka na! que guapo ng interface. you can turn of autoscanning sa System Menu.
d. may nagsabi sakin na lahat daw ng Realtek NMT eh pare-pareho lang ng PQ/SQ nung nag check sila. I wont even argue but I beg to differ. PQ isnt just the chip, its how it was built and boy this baby is really built to make you enjoy it. its a great buy.

napansin ko lang sir, wala ata continue dito sa rii? pag nagstop ka tapos play again nagstart siya sa umpisa ng movie - hindi kung san ka tumigil

Trick for R1-ii and R180/R180pro users:

I dont use the movies list/preview/thumbnail. I use file manager since my files are categorized in folders (Animation, Movies, Movie Series, Movies 1080p, Concerts).

Once you are in the folder where all your titles are,

hit the yellow button in the lowermost part of your remote to go to COVER ART MODE. and voila ..

pressing the remote Yellow Button to go to coverart mode. this is way cooler to select movies kasi yung covers kita mo. Patay na lalo si PCH ko at natulog na kahit pa may NMJ eh.

Has your friend tried the configuration that I gave you before?

Try to change the DTS HD settings to 5.1 CH then test it again.

connecting your True HD capable AV receiver is via HDMI and output set to RAW?

connection from NMT to the receiver is :
for video stream - HDMI to TrueHD receiver -> receiver to display,
for audio stream- HDMI to TrueHD receiver

My NMT (Egreat R1-II) is connected to the LCD via HDMI and via optical to the receiver.

When DTS HD is set to 5.1 CH, mkv files with TrueHD audio won't output any sound either thru HDMI or optical connection. An "unknown audio format" is encountered

. Files with DTS HD audio will be recognized as DTS on the receiver.

When DTS HD is set to 7.1 CH, no error was encountered. Files with TrueHD will be recognized as DD on the receiver. The problem now is that files with DTS HD is outputted in the receiver as stereo only.

I'm also encountering the problem with the HDD being scanned by windows after connecting it to my unit.

My friend is on HDMI after verifying his connection to his reciever, unlike yours audio is optical

The 7.1 set is correct for optical connection with True HD material via optical so you can get audio.

a few suggestions:

is it possible for you to connect as follows:
NMT -> HDMI -> receiver (HDMI in) (for audio) --receiver (HDMI out) to display (for video)

Kindly keep in mind that TrueHD and DTSHD cannot be passed by optical or even analog so to produce TrueHD and DTSHD, you'll need to pass from NMT to the capable receiver via HDMI

All HD audio tracks can NEVER be output except via HDMI, anything other than HDMI, you hear sound pero it's no longer Lossless HD Audio but the standard plain jane DD or DTS tracks.

Users often get confused because they hear sound even if the track is DTSHD but what they don't know is that they are actually hearing the DTS CORE track embedded in DTSHD.

the reason walang marinig is because MKV cannot hold the dolby digital "core" track within a TrueHD track. Same is observed with PCH,

BDMV/BDISO holds the Dolby digital track properly and outputs it to optical fine. Playback DTSHD and TRUEHD in BDMV/BDISO structure via optical/analog is fine (which in reality is the Dolby digital CORE track)

Hope that clears it up for everybody.

The reason MKV cannot hold a DD "Core" track within a TrueHD track is because the Matroska tools used to make a MKV strips the core DD track during muxing.

So if you really want to maintain the DD core track within TrueHD, you have to stick to m2ts, BDMV, BD ISO containers UNTIL the developers of MKV relent and allow DD core tracks to stay intact when muxed using MKVtools.

I did not say na kailangan eh TrueHD or DTSHD ang output via optical or coaxial. Ang sinasabi ko eh kapag TrueHD ang audio ng isang mkv file "unknown audio format" ang lumalabas at walang sound na lumalabas sa HDMI or optical "KAPAG" nakaset sa 7.1 CH ang DTS HD settings. Kapag nakaset naman ito sa 5.1 CH may output na ngayon sa HDMI and optical.

If this is the case, bakit nung nagtest ka nung sample mkv file na may TrueHD, according to you ay ok naman. Pero nung pinatest ko sayo yung configuration ang reply mo sa akin "Same sa yo, you got your settings correct"

#1 Cover Art Mode (cover.jpg / cover wall)
(last row colored buttons - yellow)
- great if you want to navigate the cover page instead of the boring file list

Just wanted to share this with all Egreat R180 owners.

I had the opportunity to connect the R180 to a receiver capable of DTS MA and DD TrueHD. The connection used was HDMI cable only. The files played were mkv files with audio playback capable of DTS MA and DD TrueHD respectively.

Result: The receiver still reflected DTS Core for a DTS MA mkv file and Dolby Digital Core for DD TrueHD mkv files.

Did you pass DTS-MA and TRUEHD to your receiver via RAW or LPCM ? what's your receiver model.
BTW, new firmware out for Rii series, see if that helps. 2011.09.20 visit toys4geeks.nexus.ph @ /etc support. I got confirmation it shows DTS-MA and TrUE HD via RAW

The receiver used was Onkyo HT RC180 c/o Onkyo606. Audio pass-thru via RAW setting on the R180.

I never bothered reading the manual kasi if its documented or not, pero cool yung Cover Wall Navigation(yellow button) at Poster Navigation (blue button) feature under File Manager mode.

hi sir, help naman. newly bought an r1ii just today. however when i got home, i cannot seem to make it work. connected it thru hdmi to an hd ready lcd tv. all i see is the loading screen and nothing happens. i cannot even see the red times ui.
