Thumbgen generated  about.jpg can be viewed Under photo. Sigma series does offer a clean list , with 1/3 of the screen showing the folder.jpg preview that do not need the coverart feature.

So some move all their about.jpg to autophoto folder and it auto plays them

connect disk to desktop PC with internet connection
run Thumbgen,
click process files/folders
select drive
tick drive containing your HD contents (click triangle beside folder to expand/hide subfolders)
click SemiAutomatic mode (at this point make sure your folders are properly named)
tick Detect movie based on folder name
click Process files/Folders

For trial run, pick only 1 folder.
Final run, select all folders are checked this will run a loooooooooooooong time since it parses the property info of your files, it will also generate about.jpg, cover.jpg

to copy all about.jpg to 1 folder you have to :
windows 7: search about.jpg
select all files, copy to a folder autoPhoto, (it will prompt file already exists, so overwrite and MERGE (NOT REPLACE)

I like to share it here lang po,
To all those getting a STEREO output only or NO DATA when connecting their egreat r1-ii (I'd tried this using r1-ii, wala po akong r6a-ii and r180pro)to their receiver (without/not capable of dtshd and dolby truehd) via COAX cable. Here's what you can do on the set up menu on the egreat r1-ii to have a DTS output.

Set the following in the audio/sound settings:
HDMI set it on LPCM
SPDIF set it on RAW

Dolby TrueHD set it on 5.1
DTS HD set it on 5.1

Egreat - connected via HDMI - TV
Egreat - connected via COAX - RECEIVER

To test if it will pick up a dts audio and not stereo,set your receiver to AUTO and wait if it shows DTS. I think its just the regular dts.

Hope it helps for some first time user and setting it up.

yes. optical/spdif raw to get 5.1 if you go LPCM it will be 2 channel lang.

Q: can Egeat 1185 play 3D?
A:  i just saw the support in a recent firmware upgrade:

Fixed:

1. Added SBS/TAB(left/right & top/bottom) 3D movie external subtitle option,there are 3 options:
    1). Off: normal external display mode
    2). 3D Side By Side: extertal subtitle display seperately on left/right screen.
    3). 3D Top Bottom: external subtitle display seperately on top/bottom screen.

2. Fixed the windows of timeline display pink issue.

3. Added Greece and Turkey OSD language.

Q: Does Red Times UI have Poster view?
A: Pressing  yellow button takes you cover art mode. in the same manner, focus on the folder, and press BLUE button shows the poster view. (not sure if its new for Jan/2012 firmware, but i like it.

REALTEK based HD player FW upgrade Instructions:
a. Format a USB with FAT32 Filesystem
b. right click to download file, and save to your PC.
c. extract file install.img to PC
d. copy the install.img to the USB main folder "/"
e.on your HD Media Plaer, plug USB to the unit and power up.
f. go to System tab, go to firmware upgrade option.

Additional questions: How long does it take (__ minutes) for the firmware to upgrade? And how will you know if the upgrade was successful?

tama, pero lets add:
a.  make sure you move all other files in a subdirectory (if meron man laman ang existing USB mo)
b. make sure there's 300MB free space.

it takes about 3 minutes or less, when you click OK, screen will blank for a few seconds, then may progress bar, then it will reboot. when you check the version, when the dates show 2012 Jan, you are all set.

while doing a flash, some naiinip, pinapatay ayun, need to ship it back to egreat if within warranty, pero hassle so best to use USB.

A workaround is to share the disk containing your music and map it.

then run any of your usual player (itunes, to get it to download the covers) pero let's see baka meron sa loob.

upgraded my 1185 to this firmware.

i notice for some avi, there's a very short pop on startup of some files. reported to egreat.
