does your technic play cdrs? i have an sl-p999 but somehow i becomes picky with cdrs, generally i will only read its content (how many tracks recorded) but once you push the play button, it would bulged.... naka indicate trying to play the track but the track time meter wont show. No problem with pirateds though. d ko 2loy mapakingan jhenna ko...... hehehe.

btw how do you find the sonic qualitites of the technics sir, vis-a-vis the onkyo and the sony?

thnx.

I've not yet fully tested the players and compare them side by side.  hirap din i-pair sa amps coz I have quite a few.  ;D ;D ;D
maybe when I have time and re-arranged the racks...

thanks sir.  I'm matching this player with the surplus Sony 333ESX II.  My problem now is my other surplus Sony CD player (CDP-990) skipping problem and unable to read some discs, cleaned only with a CD cleaner.  No problem so far with Onkyo C-200 and Tehnics SL-P555.

sir okey ba yung onkyo c-200? i was initially thinking of getting that model for reason na may remote ako ng onkyo pero tumatalon yung nakita ko eh...settled for denon1530 instead...manualmote tuloy

guys,

got from the pier yesterday a technics sl-p770 for 1.9k...its a 4dac 18bit unit...it says class AA in front whatever that means...it came out in 1988 and had a MSRP of $680 back then...kasing bigat ng rotel rcd-965 ko and plays cdrs well except those with dark colored playing side...

have not really done an extended  listening of the unit...will do so and post comments compared with the rotel

sir okey naman yung nakuha ko na Onkyo C-200. Pine-play lahat ng CDs na isalang ko.  I was able to use a universal remote bought from Raon though basic functions lang plus yung eject function.

sir congrats! i also recently have bought a technics sl-p999 but thisa unit is one hell of a choosy player when it comes to cdp, i couldnt seem to play all my cdrs that are audiophile grade, yong nabibili kina wathifi. and to think i see this unit as audiophile grade bec it has a double AA tatak (ehehehe ;D), a  contradiction indeed.

anyway, i am quite happy with the sound it produces, with  4 Bur Brown DACs working and 20 bits its more than one could ask for.... for the time being. >:D

congratulations. good model, better price. i suggest that surplus CDPs be tested before a deal is closed with your own software, including 5-inch CDRs and 3-inch CDRs para walang lugi and assure you'll get reasonable re-sale value later.

mine actually doesnt needs specifics, bastat d nya type tugtugin, wala na, though it can read the contents.

i tried to clean the lens, in hopes of isulating the prob, yet it only accepted to play one of the many cdrs it wouldnt play, yon lang result ng pagod ko.

but this i observed, the spin goes very fast when trying to read a cdr and it wont, could it be that it could not read the data contained therein, cause by it the prob would be with the system itself and not the media.

guys,

have listened to my recently acquired surplus technics sl-p770 and and comparing it with my rotel rcd-965bx,
here are my impressions:

the technics played louder and resolves more details but the rotel is more musical and less fatiguing for longer
listening sessions.

btw, here is the link for vintage technics players:

sir, ganyan talaga ang mga new generation CDPs... more forgiving to the sense of hearing.. in other words, they are now more musical unlike the older ones which may sound too clinical and very fatiguing when listened to on an extended period of time. also had an old jap cdp and just can't bear listening to it for more than 2 hrs. that's why i'm quite biased against old generation cdps with my fair share of unsavory experience from them.

bro,

ok naman ito for jazz and instrumentals and siguro nga rock the house though di ko pa na try ng husto...overall am satisfied with it for its intended role as a back-up player considering its price :D

sir, i think so.

i have a p999, and it has good detailings specially sa lows (ayos for heavy drum beats), fact is i have heard things i dont usually hear using my other player, like the symbals in kill em all, you can easily determine if it was closed when hit or open or was it just a clapping symbals effect.

here's a bit of great news to all you owners of pier surplus gears:

you can get very good but inexpensive step down transformers(220V>100V) at the metropolis star mall at alabang. the name of the store is tayo home appliances located at the ground level. prices are P500 for 1000watts and P250 for 500watts :o. these transformers are no slouches and are made by DAEWOO. the box says 110V but these are actually 100V. maybe a case of mislabelling.

have opened mine and the inside looks like a torroidal transormer ala rotel and others and workmanship is pulido. for comparison, deeco sells a 100watt unit at P545. maybe we can get it cheaper kung group buy. btw, their phone no. is 8421095. this info was passed on by bro bgaVI :D
