field report lang mga bossing direct from Pier.
After reading all your posts in this thread, i decided to go to pier yesterday coz i need a separate CDP after my generic DVD player conked out playing audio CDs (lucky, it was still replaced at RAON). So, off i go to Pier (first time i went there). I only saw 3 stores selling surplus audio eqptmnts. I only went to the first bldg and i didnt go further (meron pa ba iba stores aside from the 1st bldg?). Anyway, i was really looking for Onkyo CDP to match my Onkyo AVR. I saw just one onkyo integra C-501XG. Still looks nice. Sabi ni manang (store owner), 2.2k daw. tawad ako 1.8k, ayaw.. 2k daw last price. I stroll some more and saw sa kabila a Sony 333ESD. Same price din, 2k last price. The 3rd store has only one CDP, a Kenwood.. looks ok though, last price is 1.8k. I went back to manang to haggle some more on the Onkyo. Ayaw talaga, 2k daw talga last price. So sabi ko i-test. It instantly and flawlessly played all CDs (CDRs, prated, orig) i brought with... bilis nya magread. So i hurriedly brought home this baby.
I plug it in to my AVR using analog out pero parang kulang yung sounds, it lacks depth at di masyadong buo. I then opted to use optical out to my AVR (my DVD's connected via digital coax) and use my AVRs DAC instead. Voila, sound's great, warm and clear. I listened to it play perfectly for hours. Now i know how good the sound is compared to playing audio cds with a DVD player (generic that is, dont know though how it would fare with branded ones). I just have one complain, it doesnt match my champagne silver AVR :'(. I just can't find any info about it's specs on the web.
BTW, i also saw some denons, particularly the 1100. Some teacs, Kenwoods, technics and others.
