Toys4Geeks's WTF HT Gallery
« on: Jun 12, 2011 at 04:25 AM »
I have an ongoing reno in the house so am always on the prowl to get ideas here and there.

I just had to share this picture I took just today at maxims(resorts world area). Don't mind the size of the  LCD with respect to the big room, I'll post more later. Feast your eyes in this:

Pag pasok ko d2, pede mo na ako ikadena at ayoko na lumabas. While it's just a room with a networked tv, I like the layout, though di ganyan ang target ko space :)

There's a lot that you can do for an HT that size! Ang dali ng speaker positioning. Dapat may big screen and pj.

A room this big should require a bigger TV or perhaps a projector.

Nice room by the way.

a big projector screen in front .... (poofff! Smoke clears and  whoa!)

May locally available mechanism kaya na motoriZed to conceal a short throw projector sa ceiling when not in use?

I've only seen those in magazines. I doubt if any store carries it locally. Walang market. You'd have to import it.

Brader Jim, kelan namin makikita ng HT set up mo?  :)

I'll post the pix pag sinimulan na HT room, madocument ko din para may comments advise from PDVD as it goes along.  Pero HTIB muna ako mga bro, di kaya ng room ang dagundong ng mga naglalakihang speakers nyo :)

Ceiling mount for 2nd Video source - Projector
Was contemplating on getting the ceiling mount to provision for  a 2nd video display source, para di malaspag yung LED TV. I know this eats more power pero kung 2 hours lang and medjo madami pax, might as well plan for it.

checklist to provision for 2nd Video display (projector):
  • a. short throw projector
    Quote
btw, anyone ever tried the 3D ready projectors? if yes, ano brand and how is your experience?
  • b. motorized screen
    Quote
    - ideally, mounted offset allows smooth drop of screen with 47" LED TV behind it, must look for low profile na mounting for LCD
  • c. ceiling mount for projector (cable and cable management?)

    Quote
    - must consider distance from projector to the AVsource.
Might as well go for HDMI connection ng projector,  pero baka signal loss is a concern, depending on the cable routing/distance.

    Quote
for c., 3 options to do ceiling mounts:

    $39
    $49

$999 (sale pa daw po! :)

ordering the $49 if it fits local short throw projector available locally (HDMI support and 3D).

You can look at the gallery thread of dts-hd3d (Luther) for 3d stuff. You can also ask Luther whatever you want about 3d cuz he's the expert in this site.

From what I can tell, the Acer 3d projector is very affordable but very difficult to work with cuz it's hard to position. Wala syang motorized zoom or lens shift.

The really good 3d projectors are from Sony & JVC -- mga $8000 up. Tapos sobra pa rin mahal ang glasses.

A long HDMI cable should not be a problem if it goes through an AVR because they have built-in boosters. If you send the HDMI cable directly from your player, baka dun ka mahirapan.

Hi guys,

Here's the original room, its an open space, but knocked the whole wall. with the door facing your view.

Need help:
a. ear level front speakers and center (HTIB muna ko, pero abang ng speaker guage cables ok na for AVR)
b. however,  sa speaker wiring sa rear and surround [plan to put it inside the  cornice so  wires are concealed. ok lang ba  ceiling mount  rear and surround? dapat ba i get something that moves (speaker mounts) or pede mount direct to ceiling

Q2: its all cement wall  except the entrance which is wood

Q3:  installed provision for PJ -- power, VGA, HDMI and LAN sa PJ,  may kulang pa ba wires?

Q4:  any advise welcome

Before anything -- the room is not that big so the listening position is quite close to the back wall. Ergo, I don't think you need rear surrounds (or "surround backs").

I've seen ceiling speakers used for surround backs but not for the surrounds. I don't think that will work. The best is probably to use dipole speakers, wall-mounted around 5 to 6 feet high.

Ok na wiring mo sa pj. Btw, when you say "VGA", do you really mean "component"?

You'll have to install some acoustic treatment eventually, especially with those concrete walls.

Jim:
thanks.

May i be clarified, did you mean i can keep the rear  Rear (L+R), skip Surround (L+R) side speakers.
Also, will your recommendation change if  i  opt to wire and mount the  5ft high? instead of positioning it at the ceiling?

Jim:VGA cable to plug to PC just in case

JIM: oo, likely i'll go DIY to cover the walls.  speaking of treatment, do i treat both front and rear walls  only or pati sides. walang option ako sa doorway side kasi its all wood.

Looking forward sa HT Room mo. Make sure lang ok yung kakabitan ng ceiling mount for the PJ. Kasi with a sub in your HT there will be a tendency na mag shake yan and gagalaw yung PJ during low frequency scenes. The same is true with the sliding door, make sure it will not rattle.

Also, parang mas ok na baligtarin mo yung position ng PJ Screen and Viewing Sofa. Kasi noticed that there is a door which leads to somewhere. Baka everytime bumukas ito medyo maka distract sa nanonood  ;)

Happy Birthday ulit  ;)

Keep the Surround (side) speakers. Lagay mo sya exactly 90 degrees. Gumamit ka dipole. Mount mo mga 5 to 6 feet high.

You can skip the rear surrounds. Kaunti lang contribution nila and if your seat is close to the back, d talaga kailangan. You need it only if medyo mahaba room.

As much as possible, treat mo points of first reflection sa walls with rockwool absorber. Ang rear wall, pwede shelves lang or some kind of diffuser. Ang front, gawa ka absorber.

hmm, great idea. madami akong good old wood na loose that i can turn to a sturdy cabinet para naman may a little something sa likod. (kabinet siguro ng egreat media player stocks ko ) that should bring life to that rear wall.
tapos sa ilalim yung speakers.

90 degrees on the dipole, any recommended model or brand?

i must mention pala that ceiling and floor are all wood
