oo nga e..defending champ kayo tapos the next year mag-iiba ang line up nio..
siguro may binabalak silang gawin or meron silang kukunin na player.
salary issues bro.. And yes, cuban wants dwill on his team next season, bka mutual din kasi it's deron's hometown din.. But i heard dwill wants a new contract with nets before olympics, so mahihirapan si cuban..
The Pats way...

thats why i cant understand why Dallas let him go.
that move just cost the a chance to defend their title.

Mark Cuban has mellowed down with his high-spending the past couple of years & he has said as much .... keeping Chandler (and JJ Barea) will likely mean over-paying e.g. which happens a lot for bigs in the NBA e.g. LAC's Deandre Jordan

Cuban and Nelson will target the bigger names ..... DAL had some buzz when Dwight Howard was playing around with his free-agent status.

Top PG and Dallas-native Deron Williams is another target ..... solid, future-proofed PG as Kidd's career winds down.

what will the mavs do with odom for next season?

Lamar Odom's short stint with Dallas has been an embarassment.

The MAV's are sure to get rid of him during the offseason .... trade him, early buy-out or waive him under the 1x amnesty clause.

Trade should be the most likely route ..... Odom still has good value (when his head is screwed right) plus he has an expiring contract.

If I were Cuban/Nelson, I'd trade Odom to the Bobcats ..... just to teach Odom some humility and to add a potential headache to Michael Jordan.

question lang.. i dont understand the buy out clause...

ex. if a player has 1 year left with 10m salary, but doesnt want to play with your team anymore..

buy out would be, not pay you the salary then release you to free agency?

yes, the player is paid an agreed amount and then he hits the free agency.

Both management and player agree on an amount to buy out a contract.  If 10M for 1 year is left, if papayag yun player 4M na lang ibabayad sa kanya for his release....eh di ok na.  He will become a FA.

So the amount depends sa bargaining.

i see, so swerte rin ang player... meaning he gets a certain amount, then he can sign with another team for x amount.. (could be higher.. or if he wants a ring.. could be lower)... at least may pera na sya..

or he could sit it out.

ang signing ba ng free agent, may deadline? like trades? or you can sign anytime and activate the FA?

for free agents, deadline is before playoffs.

yes talagang magkakapera yung player and yung former team niya will have more freedom in signing for another free agent or in packaging a trade.

whats the update sa LAC vs MEM?

A free agent can sign with any team the amount depends if that team is under or over the cap.  He can sign for the veteran's minimum or the mini/mid level exception....but at a pro-rated amount.

As for the deadline, a FA can sign anytime per se even during the last day of the regular season.  However if that player wants to be included in the playoff roster....he needs to be a FA by a certain date.  For this season if I recall, as of March 23, FA na siya dapat.

^Yung March na deadline, para lang yata sa waived players yun. Si Lester Hudson nag-sign sa Grizzlies nung April 20 pero eligible sya para sa playoffs.

more questions...

1.  if a team buys out a 10m/year player..  lets say for 4m.... does he have 10m free sa salary cap space? or 6m nalang? since he used the 4m to buy out?

2.  ano naman yung waiver?.. is it if one player gets traded then the team doesnt sign that player? meaning the player gets to be a free agent agad?? then he can sign at any other teams interested at any amount he agrees to? pag waived player ka ba, walang payment mangyayari sa player and team?

Technically hindi waived si Hudson.  two 10-day contracts yata siya.  Yun waived players yun may live contracts.  Kaya pwede siya sa playoffs.

Boris Diaw is an example of a buy out and being a FA, signs with the Spurs before the Mar 23 deadline to be eligible for the playoffs.

more questions...

1.  if a team buys out a 10m/year player..  lets say for 4m.... does he have 10m free sa salary cap space? or 6m nalang? since he used the 4m to buy out?

The 10M salary still counts against the cap but the team doesn't have to pay the whole 10M.  Just the 4M.

2.  ano naman yung waiver?.. is it if one player gets traded then the team doesnt sign that player? meaning the player gets to be a free agent agad?? then he can sign at any other teams interested at any amount he agrees to? pag waived player ka ba, walang payment mangyayari sa player and team?

A waived player is one that a team intends to let go from their roster.  That player is listed in the waiver wire for 48hours.  Any team who is interested in that player may claim him and assume the remainder of the player's live contract.

But if no one claims him off waivers after 48hours, then he can be considered a FA.

1. AFAIK the whole 10M should be wiped off the books ..... since the buyout basically serves as termination of services.

2. Waiver ...... a player can be waived / released, even with an existing contract. Teams usually do this to free-up a slot on the roster when they get another player they'll use.

Waived players can be claimed by other teams (certain conditions apply though) and their existing contracts.

============================================================================

For Odom's case, he'll likely get traded in the offseason since he still has good value (as long as he's motivated) and he has an expiring contract - much valuable to teams building cap space.

Si Wade umamin na na his on the decline:

Quote
"It was all driving to the paint and doing all those things like Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook," Wade said. "I look back at that and I smile. I remember those days. Now, you've got to take it a little slower, a different pace. That's why I've been in the post more."

link here

Hope LBJ stays and earn rings sa Mia while that is happening. I don't think Mia will trade Wade or anything.

Yeah but my post that you replied to was a discussion specifically about bought out free agents having a deadline to sign with a team to be eligible for the playoffs.
