but you can't be sure that he will still have the same performance for three years. probably this year double-double performance but you can't be assured that he can perform in that level for 82 games for 3 years. sama mo pa playoffs. IMO, good for KG, bad for the C's.

At least you know what you're getting from KG even 3 years from now.  I actually consider that a bargain even with his age.  Other teams are actually offering more albeit only a 2 year deal.

To put it in perspective, KG and Deandre Jordan are basically equal in salaries but not in contribution and overall impact.   ;D

Random notes on the FA market which officially begins today:

* The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly in talks with Atlanta for a Joe Johnson trade. Coupled with reports that Deron Williams appears to be leaning towards staying with the Nets (with Jason Kidd in a package deal), and the Dwight Howard trade request, the Nets can suddenly become a very interesting team.

* Steve Nash to Toronto is getting some attention because of the $$$ available - which means a Calderon signing by another team (to the Lakers to team up with Gasol?). But won't make sense for Nash since he prefers to join a title contender.

* Houston is blowing up its team, with Scola and Lowry now available for offers.

* Shooting guard news:

** Aside from the Heat, other teams coveting Ray Allen include Memphis and Phoenix. But I'm betting he stays in Boston.

** Houston is also said to be preparing a sign-and-trade offer for Eric Gordon, with Kevin Martin and young players in the package. The Suns are also in the hunt for Gordon.

** The Brandon Roy comeback project: Chicago, Dallas, Indiana, Minnesota, and GS as possible destinations. IMO, Chicago would be a great fit.

** OJ Mayo is an UFA, and is being targeted by Boston.

Nice to see B.Roy again.. I'm also looking at these 2 FA PG, Dragic and Aaron Brooks.. if they're available, I hope Knicks sign any of these 2 good guards..

So aside from Wade, Bosh has also begged off from the US basketball team. They're really starting to look thin up front without Howard, Aldridge, etc. - not that it's a major concern, but I guess still a concern for Coach K.

+1
with the Gasol Bros. & Ibaka playing for Spain, the US team should beef up with at least Bynum or Hibbert at the post.

KG will definitely get another chance at a title, with Jeff Green back from the injured list, as I think the Celts made San Antonio-esque draft choices.
Fab Melo will get a chance to develop his defensive skills further, who better
to mentor him than a 1-time Def. Player of the Year (KG).

What's with th Bulls' non-activity aside from the Board talks? No reports
from the media. no agreements being made between RFAs & UFAs? They can't rely their franchise heavily on D-Rose, as we never know how healthy (or unhealthy) he can get. D-Rose needs a better complementary player who will take charge & win games
for Chicago when D-Rose is absent (Noah & Boozer don't qualify).

Th thing is though, D12 cannot demand which team he will go to. The Magic need to think about their team rather than the wishes of their unhappy star. If he wants a trade, he will get it, but the Magic need to benefit from it because they have a lot to give away inin the form of just 1 player (Dwight).

The NETS do have some pieces from which a Dwight Howard trade can start from ...... e.g. Brook Lopez (very decent big when healthy), Marshon Brooks (has the look of a future starting SG), Humphries (sign-and-trade), etc.

However, it's likely that MAGIC GM Hennigan will take his sweet time, looking for other trade alternatives ..... this way, he can stick it to both Howard and the NETS (forcing them to luxury-tax territory by taking on Joe Johnson's uber-contract to entice Deron Williams into signing his own uber-contract).

In a potential move that would cripple their aspirations of eventually acquiring Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, the Brooklyn Nets are engaged in talks with the Atlanta Hawks on a deal for All-Star swingman Joe Johnson, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Gerald Wallace Agrees To Four-Year, $40M Deal With Nets

I like Gerald Wallace a lot - since he was a rookie with then SAC KINGS ..... even with his very limited range, he plays hard every game .... crashes the board with reckless abandon.

However, IMO the NETS outbidded themselves for Wallace's services ..... they (Billy King probably) overpaid him with this new 40M/4yr contract.

Wallace has been more prone to injuries the past few years, owing to his style of game ..... he's not one to play the full 82 games of any regular season.

The 76ers have reached an agreement in principle on a two-year, $6 million-plus extension with Lavoy Allen, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Uy! Makakarating pala ng Pilipinas ang Trophy ng Miami Heat  ;)

Autographed Cap For President Aquino
Manila BulletinManila Bulletin – Sat, Jun 30, 2012

"To PNoy, Best wishes!"

This was the message of Filipino-American coach of the champion Miami Heat team, Erik Spoelstra on the visor of the autographed championship cap he gave to President Benigno S. Aquino III, according to Assistant Secretary Renato Marfil of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).

Aquino received the black and gray Miami Heat's Official 2012 National Basketball Association (NBA) Champions Locker Room Snap Back Adjustable hat last Friday, Marfil said in a text message.

Spoelstra reportedly sent the cap through ABS-CBN sportscaster TJ Manotoc who covered the recent NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Malacañang did not want to take sides in the NBA finals but its officials are excited about the homecoming of the Filipino-American coach of the champion Miami Heat team.

"Congratulations to Coach Erik Spoelstra. As I mentioned earlier, we do not take sides but special mention and a very big congratulations to Coach Erik Spoelstra," Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in a previous interview.

Miami Heat superstar, LeBron James led his team to a 121-106 rout of the Oklahoma City Thunder to claim the 2012 NBA title last June 22.

Told that Spoelstra said that he would bring home the championship trophy to the Philippines, Valte said that the news would surely excite his Filipino fans. "Oh, that would be good. Coach Spo has many fans here in the Philippines who would like to also convey their congratulations. And I'm sure a lot of fans will be excited," she said.

Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda who could no longer hide his admiration for Spoelstra said that he will make sure to meet the champion coach if ever he gets to call on President Aquino.

Spoelstra, the first Asian and the first Filipino-American to coach an NBA team was raised in Portland by his mother Elisa Celino of San Pablo, Laguna and Jon Spoelstra, a Dutch-Irish-American who worked as an executive for various NBA teams.

For the past three years, Spoelstra has returned to the Philippines during the off-season to preach to the Filipino youth the gospel of a healthy and active lifestyle by being an ambassador of NBA Fit, the professional basketball league's global health and wellness program.
