Image retention, commonly known as screen burn-in, can occur on most televisions if the same image is displayed continuously on the screen for a long duration. The most common causes of image retention are icons or logos that remain stationary on the TV screen. To reduce this risk, avoid displaying still images for long durations and reduce the brightness settings to decrease the intensity of the picture.

IMPORTANT: Image retention issues are not covered by Sony® warranty.

The following types of televisions are subject to image retention or burn-in:

Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) or Direct View
    Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Projection
    Plasma

Grand WEGA™ (LCD projection) televisions and BRAVIA™ televisions are not subjected to permanent image retention. These models may experience a temporary condition of image retention after continous still pattern viewing, however, the condition will correct itself after a period of viewing moving programs.

WARNING: There is a risk of hardware damage. Using a video game console with a plasma or CRT projection television may cause image retention and is not recommended.

WARNING: There is a risk of hardware damage. Extended viewing of programs or movies in aspect ratios that are different from the aspect ratio of the TV may cause image retention.

NOTE: If you have permanent screen image retention or burn-in on your television, service will be required.
