Metro Manila Film Festival 2011-2012
« on: Jun 17, 2011 at 04:55 PM »
..."Enteng ng Ina Mo," starring Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai delas Alas; d. Tony Y. Reyes. (ABS-CBN Film Productions, M-Zet TV Productions, APT Productions, and Octo Arts)

..."Hototay," starring John Lapus, Ruffa Gutierrez, Andi Eigenmann, Lovi Poe and Melai Cantiveros; d. Joel Lamangan. (Regal Entertainment, SMDC)

..."Mr. Wong," starring Robin Padilla and Angelica Panganiban; d. Tina Dayrit and Rechie del Carmen. (RP Studios)

..."My Househusband," starring Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos; d. Jose Javier Reyes. (Octo Arts Films)

..."Panday 2," starring Bong Revilla, Phillip Salvador, Marian Rivera and Iza Calzado; d. Mac Alejandre. (Imus Productions, GMA Network)

..."Segunda Mano," starring Kris Aquino and Dingdong Dantes. (MJM Productions)

..."Shake, Rattle & Roll," starring Eugene Domingo, Paulo Avelino, Albie Casino, Maricar Reyes, Kathryn Bernardo; "Lunod" d. Chris Martinez, "Tamawo" d. Richard Somes, and "Parola" d. Jerrold Tarog. (Regal Entertainment)

..."Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" starring Dennis Trillo, Heart Evangelista, Carla Abellana and Ritz Azul. (Studio 5)

-----

Hmmm...A movie starring Ai-Ai? Pass. "Hototay" d. Joel Lamangan? Pass. Robin Padilla? Pass. Bong Revilla and Marian Rivera? Pass. Kris Aquino? Pass. "Shake, Rattle & Roll"? Pass. "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow"? Pass. "My Househusband"? Maybe. "RPG: Metanoia 2" - YES!

"Hototay" or "Segunda Mano"? I wonder which one is the Mano Po nth movie? It probably depends on which film is produced by Regal.

Update: Producers added. So, "Hototay" is from Regal, this is probably the newest installment from the Mano Po series. And, "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" is from Boss Monopoly V. Pangilinan's Studio 5.

Very interesting directors though for Shake, Rattle & Roll. I think I'll be watching this out of all the entries.

^ Maybe true for the mainstream, but I think Filipino indie films are very much alive & well.

why not just change the name from film festival to film karnabal....pang-perya ang entries e.... buti sana kung may indie films rin na pinapalabas between showings of the entries.

*sighs*

Looks like we're in for another boring, lackluster lineup. If the films being shown here would be as interesting as the ones in CinemaMalaya, I'd be perfectly fine with no Hollywood films for two weeks to support all those films.

...Asiong Salonga trailer -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm7ide3GfDM

Looks interesting given the b&w cinematography and detailed period production design (a rarity in local films)...I'd watch this just to fulfill my patriotic quota of watching at least one local film offering this holiday season.

The only film I think I'm gonna check out is Asiong Salonga because a.) The trailer looks very interesting, black & white and period. Rarities in mainstream Filipino film and b.) It's directed by Direk Tikoy.

The rest can go suck it.

This early, some are predicting that Panday 2 will be the top grossing film of the MMFF this year.

Will this one work?

MMFF unveils entries in indie and shorts sections

New wave hits the MMFF.

Following “intense viewing and deliberation of 33 entries,” the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has finally chosen 15 works included in its New Wave-Independent section, which is further divided into two competition divisions—Full Length and Student Short.

In the Full Length section, the following made the top five: Adolfo Alix Jr.’s “Haruo,” Yeng Grande’s “Ritwal,” Neal Tan’s “HIV,” Ogie Diaz and Sid Pascua’s “Dyagwar” and Imee Marcos and Nelson Caguila’s “Pintakasi.”

For the Student Short section, 10 entries made the final list: La Salle Lipa’s “Payaso,” Asia Pacific Film Institute’s “Adivino,” Ateneo de Naga University’s “Sanayan Lang ang Pagpatay,”

College of St. Benilde School of Digital Arts’ “Biyahe ni Barbie,” International Academy of Film and Television Cebu’s “Oras,” Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s “Mate,” Southville International School’s “I See Everything,” Mapua MAS’s “Bagong Ligo,” Miriam College’s “Speechless” and Pixel Art/La Consolacion College’s “Ulan.”

Filmmaker Mark Meily, chairman of the MMFF independent film section, told the Inquirer that all the finalists, including the student shorts, were of “high quality.”
