Leon, did you buy it new from amazon? Kasi they also have refurbished items right. Katakot naman yun experience mo if brand new item unless na-damage siya while being shipped.

I agree na wala sa pobox service yun mag check ng item eh. Pack and ship lang talaga.

Yes, I bought it brand new. It probably got damaged during shipping since the side of the box was mangled and when opened, the system itself got damaged. As Waxx said, Amazon immediately replaced the item once I reported it to them.

That's why as much as I would like to use this service, I don't want to risk buying something expensive and have it arrive on my doorstep damaged. I wouldn't know if it got damaged while it was in Amazon's hands or pobox.ph.

As far as I know, you can ask POBOX to do some checks on the products for you. They can also handle returns but I think there's a fee for that. I'm just not sure how much checking they can do... you can ask Celine about that.

I had my HP laptop shipped Oct. last year, pobox charged me $30 for the black box plus $20 tariff, or P2,210 to ship and deliver it here in Makati. Handling is very good, aside from the other stuff that I ordered from amazon that came w/ the box, the extra spaces were filled w/ crumpled papers & bubble wraps. It took 5 wks., but no issues whatsoever in any of my items.

I'm going to buy a laptop as well.

It will be over $1000, and I'll probably use POBox because I'm spending way too much at JAC. So magkano tariff ko sa POBox? $30 din ba o may additional pa pag over $1000? Can't find an answer anywhere.

My most recent order of electronic items (two av receivers combined into one package, not a laptop) costing around $1,100 was charged $60 tariff, but I'm not really sure how they compute for it so it may still be different for a laptop.

I know POBOX can check the item for any defect just advice them to check/power up for DOA. Sa Forex wala tariff the last time i have check quotation of reciever and PJ the down side is di nila puwede icheck/power for DOA so i ended up with FRS kasi ayaw ko magantay ng matagal kaya 1 week lang nasa akin na ang PJ and reciver ko. Mas mura kesa JAC quote.  ;) ;)

same quote binigay sa akin ni luis of FRS re shipping of pj. may space pa kaya for a 35-ft hi-speed hdmi sa loob ng pj box? sulitin ko na sana while they are at it (powering up the unit).

but as you have said na gumagana ang 1.3v hdmi sa 3D, pag tiyagaan ko muna ang 1.3v hdmi while waiting for my 1.4v sa forex.

thanks sa tip brader ;)

kung sa space meron, since may box sa ibabaw about 4 inches x  which houses the power cord and 2 x 3D glasses. you can take out the glasses, and wrap the powercord in bubble wrap.  you should be ok.

Bad news FRS will not allow to put the HDMI at the PJ box but they will only charge one handling fee for the two item.  ;D ;D

hayos! wala bang pang kids yang Epson compatible 3D glasses? pabili ako :) heheheh

sabi dun sa AVSForum, ang sony ps3 3d glass ay maliit kesa epson so pwede sa kids. 4 kami sa bahay, 2 adults and 2 kids so swak ang additional ps3 glasses.

basing on the ps3 glasses dimension sa amazon + dagdag konti ng sukat to assume the box size, maliit lang din ang box. 2 glasses are less than 1 lb vol weight, so $6.5 lang ;D

Alam mo minimum na nilalagay sa mga less 1lbs is 2lbs so that's my experience with amazon nung nag paship ako kay FRS nakalagay sa box 2lbs even less 2lbs. Yan din ata ang minimum ng pag ship sa local courier sa US sa nakalagay sa box na weight mag base si FRS not the actual. :D

ito ang email sa akin ni luis of FRS regarding computation of weight

Chargeable weight will be based on actual weight or volume weight of the box whichever is higher. Volume weight is computed as LxWxH/166 = min weight.

Handling fee of $5 is per shipment.  Online air shipments  leave New York, M-W-F. Transit time to Manila 5-7 working days. If you are expecting more than one package arriving in our New York/New Jersey offices during the week, we can hold all packages received and send out on our Wed or Friday shipment for $1/package, to save on the handling fee of $5/shipment. If there is no instructions to hold, package will be sent out as received.

sana totoo ang sinabi nya. pero nangyari lang siguro ang ni round off nila kung isang box lang na less than 2lb ang weight.

i will ship a 35-ft hdmi and 2x ps3 glasses so maiwasan siguro ang rounding off to the heavier weight.

paano pala nila e compute? isang computation sa hdmi, tapos round off. then isang computation sa 2x ps3 glasses tapos round off rin? o sabay na ang dalawang items at isang computation nalang?

naging FRS topic na tuloy 'tong thread na to. sorry mods sa OT ;D

FYI sa mga gumagamit ng pobox service. This was an email a while ago from them.

Important Announcement - Extra Insurance for Lost Items

To All Our Valued Members:

There have been a few incidents of lost items due to the random inspection
of our boxes by the U.S. Customs. They take out the items inside the boxes
and then pack it again thus also ruining the way we carefully pack the
items. They do this to boxes of cargo forwarders to the Philippines. Around
30% of our boxes are subject to these random inspections. Examples of items
that are lost are relatively 'small' items such as shades, watches, small
gadgets and the like. As stated in our Terms and Conditions, the insurance
of the courier, Forex Cargo, only covers 'loss' of the whole box and not
the 'loss' of items inside the box. However, POBox has tried to compensate
for the 'Loss' of these items as an act of service and commitment to our
clients. Moving Forward, Forex and POBox may not be able to cover ALL
losses anymore. In lieu of these circumstances, we decide to offer Extra
Insurance coverage for such instances. The ff. are the details for this
Extra Insurance:

1. Extra Insurance coverage offered is for up to $100 and $200 only. The
additional cost for the insurance is $5 and $10 respectively.
2. Extra Insurance coverage is only for 'Loss' of items due to Random
Inspection by the U.S. Customs.
3. Extra Insurance coverage is in additional to coverage of Forex Cargo.
Claims should be first made to Forex and the Extra Insurance will cover
balances that were not claimed through Forex if the claim was deemed valid.
4. When shipping a box, POBox will ask all if they want to avail of the
Extra Insurance. The fee for the Extra Insurance should be paid with the
shipment fee of the box.

Since the maximum coverage we offer is only $200, we advise everyone to
refrain from shipping expensive, valuable and 'small' items for now while
the situation with the U.S. Customs remains uncertain. This extra insurance
will be offered starting on the September 19 shipment batch.

Kindly let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this.

Thank you very much!

I got this email too.

One of my recent packages was delayed by a few weeks because of this random US customs inspection. Buti nalang malaki, so hindi madaling mawala during the inspection. Kung dito yan, I wonder where the 'lost items' go...

you mean when they inspected it, it wasn't opened properly (i.e. unceremoniously cut the flap of the box itself, instead of in-between the two top flaps?)

was it in a factory sealed box when packed?

Too bad for him. Mas safe tlga bilhin un mga bulky na item like receivers, speakers etc... Mainit sa mata un mga item na maliliit and expensive. Madalas mawala jan relo at laptop.

The unit was inside the original box, the cut a portion on the lower side of the box exposing the styro. >:(

their reason is that the customs people might have misplaced the items specially the small items, but i think you are correct in assuming na "nabuwaya" na rin yun mga stuff na yon. nahiya lang ang po box to stay na nadale na.

i was lucky my last shipment was not inspected and i have a watch in there.

as for my pj, it was inspected since the box when it was delivered to me, the u.s. customs inspected sticker was on the box.

would you say that the 818's box was slit open intentionally, or perhaps by accident (maybe out of carelessness while opening the larger box containing the 818 box?)

It was intentional. the cut has a 45 degree angle.

whoa, i'm not sure why they'd do that. i mean, were they expecting cocaine would pour out or something? aren't they supposed to use x-ray or whatever, specially if a box was clearly labeled and factory sealed...
