mga sir.  need your assistance. im planning to build a dekstop PC for the kids.  pero excuse na rin kay misis para magamit ko siya for my 3d ready projector (acer h5630 nvidia 3D vision).  I know that there are a few 3d movies out in the market kaya gagamitin ko lang siya for 3d viewing since I use another palyer for movies.  ano suggested niyong specifications na mura.

thanks.

Get a G530 processor and 4GB of RAM at least, fitted to a motherboard with optical audio output. Then couple this with a current Nvidia GPU for 3D Vision support (GT610 at least for 3D movie playback, GTX550Ti at least for basic 720p 3D gaming).

pwede na kaya to as basis for an htpc? (ako na magdadagdag ng ibang parts like true-rated psu, hdd, gpu, sound card)

Celeron PC Package  - 5650

Specs:
Rise ATX Case + 500W Generic PSU
ASRock H61M-VS B3
Intel Celeron G530 2.4Ghz
2GB DDR3

Here are my thoughts on this:

a.  pure HTPC (even online games)
   - ivy bridge processor
   - H77 motherboard
   - SSD for OS & media front end (60-128GB)
   - HDD (internal or external) for media
   - min 4GB 1600 RAM
   - 400w PSU

b.  HTPC with GAMING
  - 3770K
  - Z77 motherboard
  - SDD (optional)
  - internal HDD
  - 8GB 1600 RAM
  - discrete GPU (at least HD 7770 or 550Ti)
  - 500w PSU

IMO, ivy bridge for current requirements eliminates the need for a discrete GPU for a purely HTPC setup.  Consider it future proof to about 3-5 years when 4K displays become mainstream.  The SSD is purely for optimization of OS booting, so if you are fine with the usual boot times, then you can do without it.  Option A would also rival NMT considering the lack of a discrete GPU.  Although it will still consume higher power vs NMTs, it will not be as high as older HTPC.

Pwede, pero if possible get a motherboard with HDMI para magamit mo ng maayos maski walang dedicated GPU. Maliit lang ang price difference.

Most current games won't saturate an i7-3770K, but most would have the HD7770/GTX550Ti as a big bottleneck (especially when you ramp up graphics settings).

Agree on the procy, however, the TS mentioned 720p as his resolution so I suppose the GPU choices would suffice.

YES!  ;)

@stagea

good point! I'm also eyeing the Asrock H61M/U3S3, which costs 3110 and already has HDMI and USB 3.0.

If he's gonna run 3D, he'd need to generate a consistent 120+fps (and preferably with vsync on) for smooth video with no visible tearing. That'd need some graphics muscle with higher detail levels, even at 720p.

12-15k for a basic build. 20k and up for an htpc/ gaming build. what's your budget for an htpc?

bro 15k to 20k

With screen and input devices na or wala pa?

If meron na, something like this would likely do:
Intel Core i3-2120 Processor
Intel DH61HO Motherboard
Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 RAM (1 stick)
Sapphire/Powercolor Radeon HD 7750 1GB DDR5
Western Digital Blue 1TB HDD
Cooler Master Elite 371 w/ 460W CM PS

These items will total close to 20k. Using just 1 stick of RAM will leave the other slot available for future upgrades. Dagdagan mo na lang ng RAM and ODD later on, as necessary.

Depende din sa expectations mo. Sa video editing kasi nakakabilis yung Quick Sync feature pag supported ng software (lalo na during encode), kaya recommended i3 at least. Sa games naman critical yung graphics adapter normally, and not so much the processor. Since you plan to do both, medyo masasagad talaga budget mo, unless you're willing to take a performance hit in one of those activities.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter is expected to take advantage of multicore processors, lots of RAM and a fast GPU. However, as long as you don't intend to play in high detail settings and high resolution, then your PC with an HD 7750 / 7770 should be okay. It'd should still be a lot better than a PS3.

If you plan on keeping your motherboard, adding additional RAM and plugging in a faster processor could be an option. DDR2 pricing is a bit steep at the moment however, and it may make more sense to change everything if you're looking at changing the CPU anyway.

720p would likely be doable, as long as you keep the effects and details in check (and you don't intend to run 3D).

A lightweight operating system like Windows 7 Home Basic 32-bit might help reduce your overhead if you plan to keep your existing hardware. Get the 64-bit version if you plan on doing a RAM upgrade (an extra 4 gigs should run you about 3k nowadays).

an 7750 would already be a good upgrade. however, I recommend stretching your upgrade budget to 10k so you could upgrade the motherboard, cpu, and ram as well.

here's a sample of what 10k could get you: ;)

ECS H61H2-M2      - 1995
Intel Celeron G530    - 1800
4GB DDR3-1333      -  900
PowerColor HD 7750 1GB   - 4850
TOTAL         = 9545

Take note: even the cheapest modern Celeron has better performance than an Athlon 64 X2. ;)

I built one for my boss with a budget of less than 15k, got cheap parts from TPC.com and he's happy with his HTPC.
AM3; Asrock N68-VS3FX
DDR3 Gskills 1333Mhz 2GB  x2
AM3 Athlon II X2 260 3.2Ghz
AMD Radeon HD6570
500W Aerocool StrikeX true rated 80% efficiency
1 TB Seagate / Samsung / WD

1 part (mobo) was already existing, 3D ready na rin..

Sir salamat.. will take note of your suggestion

Hi Guys,

I would like to build an HTPC/Gaming Rig... Could you recommend a rig with a budget of 30k including monitor? I'm looking for something with a good PQ and where I can use my HT System (receiver is HK260)

What sort of monitor would you want? Don't you want to game with your main display instead?

Why not get the FM2 board and A10-5800k you have a quadcore with up to 2GB HD7660D GPU.

Asrock A55M-DGS - 2650.00
A10-5800k - 5690.00
Memory  G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB(2x4gb) DDR3 1600 CL9 Red -  1980.00
Fsp Raider 550watts 80PLUS Bronze - 2500.00
1 TB Seagate / Samsung / WD

In this setup you don't need any video card the HD7660D is powerful enough to do task of gaming and you have a 3D capable setuo with good PQ in HTPC not unlike nvidia.  ^-^ ^-^ ^-^
