Turntable RCA Cable
« on: Feb 24, 2011 at 01:35 PM »
Hello Braders,

Where can i find a decent RCA Cable (with grounding) replacement for my Turntable? or anyone here who knows how to replace its existing rca cable? Nagkaroon kasi bigla ng Humming sounds yung turntable ko e and it happens kapag nagagalaw yung Cable...

Thanks ;)

Acoustic Dimension in Rockwell, They have some nice phono cables there & could also replace it for you. Goodluck ;)

I didnt take note of the prices, you could also do DIY as Sir IVO suggested if we have the know-how.

just passed this thread... pre, have you ever check the grounding, normally loose grounding produces humming..
i had a similar case, what i did was, connected a wire to the ground of the amp and the other end is connected to my steel window and it works...

yes sir, its probably not grounded properly.. or maybe your ground wire is loose like sir Reynold mentioned. kung kaya i-DIY sir you'll need a soldering iron baka loose lang connection sa board sa ilalim ng tonearm mo.

Pwede naman na hiwalay yung ground wire mo from your RCAs, doesn't need to be RCAs with a ground wire.

Actually, binuksan ko na sya dati to see if there are some loose solders, ok naman lahat sa loob ng turntable... though one thing i noticed, yung ground, nakakabit lang sa isang screw na naka-screw sa wood sa ilalim ng TT...

sinubukan ko na din sya i-ground kung saan-saan pero ganun pa din... yung rca cable, kapag nagagalaw, umuugong na pero once maiayos sa tamang pagkakabaluktot or pwesto, nawawala naman, so i suspected the cable...

alin nga kaya ang culprit? the rca cable or the ground cable?

btw sir ivo, my TT is Pioneer PL-A300 ;)

medyo weird yan sir, dapat hindi sa wood naka screw yung ground wire  ;D kelangan nating ng schematic to know where the ground wire should be soldered to. usually on a 1200 its soldered to the small pcb board beneath the tonearm, the same board where the 4 wires going from the headshell are soldered, and also where the RCAs are soldered as well.

Check mo uli sir yung area kung san naka-solder yung RCAs mo, usually within the same area lang din yung kakabitan ng ground wire.

planning to replace the RCA ng turntable ko (recently bought from fellow pdvd member).
and planning to DIY it :)

question - may specific wire/cable ba for phono? pwede ko ba gamitin yung RCA plugs like yung kay diy_master na for sale?

thanks!

your phono player should have ground connector for audio cable as well as your phono preamp or amp. if this not present you can connect the wire on the amps  case screw.  :)

Best way is to open up the turn table and take pictures of the RCA cables plus any grounding wire (if any).  Then we will take it from there.  Its so hard to speculate and guess what you have.

It should be easy and you need not spend a lot.

BTW the RCA plugs should not be loose when connected tot he RCA jacks to prevent any noise.
