Media Player Classic Cinema
« on: Oct 18, 2011 at 04:14 AM »
I'm setting up my laptop to be my HTPC. I'm using media player classic but i'm having trouble displaying correctly the aspect ratio of my video.

When i normally play them in my NMT, the usual black bars appears on screen which is ok but when i play them in MPC they are usually big, sometimes stretched etc.. etc.. Why cant they play automatically like the size that NMT plays. Using windows media player plays it like an NMT with no problems.

I am not familiar with Media Player Classic but I'm sure it has an aspect ratio or zoom adjustment. You may also try using XBMC or PowerDVD. These players have no problems in that aspect. Definitely an HTPC should have more options than an NMT. Konting tweaking lang yan bro!

IIRC Media Player plays it on correct aspect ratio by default, kailangan manually mo pindutin yung CTRL + NUM arrow keys bago mo mapalaki or mapaliit yung screen:)
btw numkey 5 or ctrl + numkey 5 yata ang default  :D
madalas fullscreen ang tv series kung tv series ang tinitest mo  :)
pag movies na dapat talagang may blackbar, check mo lang sa tools option  :)

I have XBMC and Windows media player and dont have a problem with it. I love Media Player Classic kasi sobrang konti resources na ginagamit nya compared to other player. Problem is kelangan manually mo i ayos yung aspect ration (Numpad keys).

I guess ill stick na lang sa XBMC..

If you're using xbmc, try to get the card type cdrking remote. Works best with it.  ;D

Question, baket parang mas malaki ang black bars pag HTPC using XMBC and Windows Media Player vs NMT on a 42 inches TV. I'm using a laptop connected via HDMI Windows 7 pro. Playing same file

Mas accurate aspect ratio and advanced ang control ng software player HTPC.  Depende sa media player, may cropping.  Napansin ko rin dati yon but then nasanay na rin ako sa "actual size" mode ng A200/A210 so nakalimutan ko na.

So meaning na crop na yung movie sa NMT kaya mas maliit black bars nya kesa sa HTPC? Kasi both my egreat and C200 pareho nang size ang blackbars unlike sa HTPC na mas malaki ang black bars..

it depends on the aspect ratio you setup from your HDTV. If you use "Just Scan", this will give the accurate size of the film with the correct aspect ratio. If you use "16:9" this will at least the enlarge the aspect ratio a little bit but it will reduce the correct size of the film ( which means you will not see the whole size of the film image, side images will be reduced ). I suggest that you keep your aspect ratio always and I recommend using Media Player Classic with CoreAVC.

You can use MPC through XMBC. I suggest use MPC as the best Media Player out there in terms of Quality and will determine all the audio and subs on the file if you have the correct codecs. I use MadVR plus coreavc and Ill tell you it will bring your HDTVs to just an awesome quality of film display. :)

How can i make Media Player Classic use the CoreAVC codec? Right now when i use it, it uses it's default codec..

Download Coreavc codec just google it, open your mpc go to options->output->select EVR sync

go to external filters click add filter and choose coreavc video decoder and check it. Done

How would i know if MP is using the right codec. I tried your instructions but when i play a movie the FFv icon shows Input CCV1(libavcodec h264) Output: YV12.

Does this means MP is now using the COREavc?

Thanks nga pala sir for your help..

right click on the video while your using mpc, choose filters and you will see the coreavc configurations, customize its shaders as well.
