where to attach isolation spikes
« on: Jan 05, 2012 at 03:29 PM »
a friend of mine recently purchased floor standers. knowing that i am a member of pdvd, he asked me if it is a good idea to place isolation spikes. during chit-chats with the "midnight club", i learned that it is a good idea to do so, as there would be less contact with the floor thus reducing vibrations. so i said yes. when we recently visited tirso's place i noticed that his FS were placed on a plinth. so i further advised him to do so. the next question was, if he were to place his FS on a plinth, where should he attach the spikes. on the speakers or on the plinth or on both?

and that brings me here. i don't want to pretend to be an expert on the matter so i told him i'll post an inquiry here.

your thoughts. please? thanks!

If I will do it to my gears, iso spikes on the plinth to decouple from the floor and use thin rubber pad between speakers & plinth,

or something like this...

Anthem CD1
Anthem Pre1
Audio Linear TT
Ortofon Rondo Red
Theta Dac
GTA SE-40 Amp
JBL L7
AudioQuest
