I dont think so.

Thanks for the offer, but it does not use that type of transistor. It uses this one 2SD746A & 2SB706A

no problem, the 2sd746 is available at Newport for 300bucks...http://newportelec.com/transistor_2sd.html

indeed they are, i was thinking metal TO-3's but actually they are plastic packaged and the 4 legs is because two collectors are brought out, they are high speed output trannies...if you can not find them you will be forced to mod your amp..how many devices do you need?

For now none,  as long as I dont screw up anything. Pulls are occasionally available at ebay and some vintage suppliers but their $$$.  Each channel has 6 output trannies

Sanken has MT200 type power trannies that are just as good, 3 legged trannies are ok to use in case you will need to replace them.....

my experience with pioneers is that they are easier to repair, hindi sirain compared to Sansui's....

True,  plus the boards are well spaced and if you have a problem with the volume or tone controls, its easy to find which board has the problem.

Decided to place my SX1980 on display, display lang still have issues with the power supply. Parang biglang lumiit yung 50 pounder na SX1050.

Thats the alternative transistor for the SX1980.

I was just thinking if you can consider them as replacement for the output transistors since even the guys from diyaudio and audiokarma are having difficulties in sourcing out the original ones (4 legs)...

Just my 2 centavos...  ;D

Some changes....

Pioneer SX-1250 serving HT and Audio duties, No Filters, Both speakers are run full range

Audio
Alon Model IV and Rythmik F15 (Both are sealed systems)

HT
JBL L112 and Klipsch SW112 (Both are ported systems)

This is the best setup I have ever had, I always struggled with using one sub for Audio and HT. Audio, lower crossover point vs HT's higher crossover point. Using 2 different sets of speakers for Audio and HT, I no longer have to fiddle with the sub setting. I also enjoy the added benefit of using a ported sub for HT and Sealed for Audio.

Qguy - Building the Beast

Building the Beast

Enclosure : Slot ported, 26.5 x 25.5 x 21.5  (L x W x H), tuned to 15Hz/20 Hz

Driver:  18 Dayton PA-460, 500 watts. PB12-NSD in the background

Panels are cut. I used Baltic Birch ply

Assembly-  External volume is 8.28 cubic feet

Test fitting the driver,  it dwarfs my 15 inch sub

When you only have one clamp, enlist the help of your loudspeakers and sub

Testing and size comparison with PB12-NSD

Ok, So I $uck at staining wood :)  I will refinish this once I can get supplies after the lockdown

The Sound - Checkout the marketplace, there could be a PB12-NSD for sale soon  >:D
