HARD DISK pa help naman po
« on: Feb 18, 2012 at 09:19 PM »
planning to buy a hard disk sana for my storage ng mga downloads ko.. balak ko gamitin din as source with my monitor's built in media player, siguro will buy a media player na lang pag nakaipon na ulit.. question ko lang is ano ba magandang brand ngayon for realiability at performance? ano din ba maganda internal or external? recommended ba yung may power supply? worth ba yung price difference ng 2TB sa 1TB kung sa price to size ratio? saan po ba murang bumili ngayon preferably sana yung may 6months installment.. kulang pa kasi ipon eh, and how much na ba ang 2TB at 1TB sa ngayon?...

Thanks in advance

Go for Seagate - madali magpawarranty
medyo pricey nga lang

now a days kung installament sa mall ka lang makakakuha and mahal pa

1tb 3.5k to 4.5k

If your on a budget this is not the right time to purchase
Sobrang mahal ….

personaly i dont recommend seagate.
pricey maybe because to cover cost sa mga returned storage.libre kasi ang shipping from pinas to singapore.
nag pa-rma na rin ako sa kanila.
now i used samsung.so far wala pa naman bumibigay sa kanila.mas malamig pa vs seagate and western

its ok lang papa joko
base on experience din
naman ang recommendation
ako panatag lang kasi ako sa RMA just incase units encountered problem and longer ang warranty nila compared sa iba

toshiba ok din pero karamihan e 2.5 and internal sa ps3 and laptop

samsung f4 AND f3 are good low rpm kasi
good for media player

Yep, same sentiment here. Still a bit expensive to buy now. So am just making use of what I have currently. Am waiting for the price to come back down before adding more HDDs.

I'm using a mobile Seagate 500GB HDD in an external enclosure. Plug-in plug-out sa NMT and am bringing it always, connecting to laptop and desktop. More than 2 years na yata and still no problems encountered. One time na accidentally drop pa to the floor. Still working fine. Am getting Seagate kasi no problem sa RMA just-in-case. Ito ang talagang gamit-na-gamit ko.

On 3.5" HDD naman, last I have is Hitachi Coolspin 2TB. Definitely mas malamig pa kaysa sa WD Green 2TB ko. With Hitachi, no problem sa formatting. I also have WD Green 2TB ok pa rin pang NMT. Medyo may instruction lang when formatting for these new drives. And I also have a 1TB Seagate old model pa, pero mainit sya pag matagal. I heard new 2TB models na low power ay may problems. These 3.5 HDDs ko (put in an external enclosure) are mostly for storage purposes and seldom used sa NMT ko. No problem also so far.

Last time I saw Seagate Freeagent USB3 mobile 500GB HDD selling at php3.5k. I know mura na talaga ito at this time.

Thanks for the input guys...

Thanks... to buy or not to buy....

since you are planning to pay installment anyway, better get the largest capacity available locally - 3TB ... 1TB is simply too small for HD movies and all your other media files ... i'm sure once you get your media player you'll also be including your music files and photos ... only caveat is if you're just using the built-in media player on your tv, it may not support the large capacity drives
Marantz NR1200, MartinLogan Motion 20 digital audio setup, and Sony A80J

d pa daw ok bumili ng mga HDD now, dahil sa nangyari sa Thailand. ung baha. sila kasi 40% producer ng HDD, kaya mahal pa ngaun. i usually get my HDDs sa greenhills. I have a shop there that I always get my parts. sure ako na ok ang unit at ang services.

i have MyBook 1TB (external), and an internal 2TB, which is now in my android mediaplayer. more than a year na sila 2 and so far i have no issues with them.

i'm planning na bumili ng add'l 2TB pero advised nga ako na wag muna ngaun. around April or May na raw, para bumaba na ung price.

If you are moving your HDD a lot, preferable ang external mobile HDD. No hassle, as no need to bring the AC adapter, if there is one.

If you seldom move your HDD (between TV, NMT, PC), then preferable ang external 3.5" HDD (w/ AC adapter).

If you are getting an internal 3.5" HDD, better get the sata3 HDD. You will need a branded enclosure preferably with USB3 port. If getting a complete external 3.5" HDD package, advisable to get the USB3 capable unit. Most likely the internal HDD is sata3. Even with USB2 connection to the desktop to transfer files, may difference pa rin. What more if straight sa USB3 port for data transfer.

On 3.5" HDD, I suppose the sweet spot (price to capacity ratio) right now is 2TB. With 3TB, you have to make sure your device/s is capable of recognizing it.

That's my reco.

Brand Really Does not matter when talking about Durability, dahil weather weather talaga, 10 years ago seagate rocks WD is a sponge, then me time na bliktad, tapos me new players na etc.

Bumigay yung 3-year old Seagate 3.5" 1TB HDD ko. Puno pa naman yun ng movies. Question lang. Nakita ko sa website ng Seagate na under warranty pa sya. Sino na dito nag-try i-RMA yung HDD? How long will it take? Tsaka totoo bang free yung shipping? TIA!

yes free ang shipping... all they need to know is the serial number, doon malalaman kung under warranty pa sa kanila.. yung sa akin ipinadala ko tapos sa kanila nakapatong yung payment ng shipping.. mga wala pang 10days naibalik na sa akin yung HDD.. that was three years ago.. di ko lang alam paano ang system ngayon...

I'll just post my question here since about harddisk yung query ko and related sa NMTs...

1. Which is better, an external 2.5" hdd to hold my movies and i-kabit ko lang sa NMT (like Asus o!play) or install an internal 3.5" hdd inside an NMT? I am of the impression na ang internal hdd may have some heat/temp    issue...

2. Which has a longer average life a 2.5" hdd or a 3.5" hdd?

3. Are there 3.5" hdd na similar sa 2.5" hdd na walang kailangang sariling power? Hindi ko gusto yung maraming cables eh...
