Back to the topic...my preamp is finally finished, its not chromed, its all black to match my monoblocks. Its not a bulilit amp anymore because I requested for a phonostage to be added. will give initial impressions tom.

i'm currently breaking in the preamp, together with the gainclone.....mamaya na sa monoblocks, ganda ng tunog e

This preamp currently uses hitachi 12 au7s for the linestage. mids are clear, its not really slow even though its tube rectified (5u4g) and has bass

it might be due to the gainclone but i'm keeping my hopes up..since i tried the gainclone first on its own before adding the preamp and the bass didn't change at all. I haven't tested the cd buffer section and the phono stage yet so I will leave that for later. right now soundtrip muna ko.

speakers used: marble speakers
source: teac c-1d (next project)
interconnects: diy magnet wire
cd's tested: enya and evanescence

Initial impressions of the preamp hooked up with the kt88 monoblocks:

Pros: sweet sound, especially when the amp is set to triode mode, vocals sound great and has depth. wide soundstage and separation of instruments are apparent.

Cons: a tad less detailed than the gainclone, if dynamic songs are played, it does'nt have much oomph if amp is set to triode but improves once its set to ultralinear

akyat:nakatawad pa sya...ang pinagpilian nya is yung 300B and ung el34, pinili na lang nya yung el34 kasi mas maganda ang porma.

Parang kilala ko yang artista na yan ah, i was in Park Squre yesterday, naghahanap sya ng cd player na de tubo, meron ba non???

Grabe pala yang tube amp na yan ang gandang tumonog, when i got home from makati binuksan ko yung HK/8.3 ko..... abay pumangit, nakarinig lang ako ng tunog ng tube amp pumangit na sa pandinig ko yung HK, symptoms na ba to ng SARS

wag naman sana kabibili ko lang ng HK, 8.3 and DTX 4.10.
