sir, yan nga yung amp ko when i got it from andrew. nothing has been changed except fot the rectifier (changed to 5u4g) and the 2 6sn7s from electro harmonix to sylvannia.

na-mention na ni kimpao yung specs ng amp ko.

Sir reading ko lang to ha. I'd be a little cautious about using 5ar4, at least for the el34 without checking the effect on dissipation and rebiasing. Kasi even now using 5V4G which has a bigger voltage drop than 5ar4, the el34s are already operating a near max dissipation ratings and this is the default on my unit (22w plate dissipation on one tube and 24w on the other and less than 5w for the screens). I'm not sure if Sir Andrew likes to bias his tubes very hot but a higher B+ could push your loadline outside the max dissipation curve. Not to mention kung optimal or hindi. Just my two cents.

Better ask sir andrew about this as he was the one designed the amp using a 5ar4 yet he said that it was ok to use a 5u4 variants.

Ah ok lang yan sir kasi moving from 5ar4 to 5u4 will just mean higher voltage drop so less B+. The unit will I guess just be biased colder everything else remaining the same. But if the unit is designed for a 5u4 but will be rolled to 5ar4, I'd be a little cautious lang that's all. In my case kasi right now near dissipation na yung unit ko based on my reading and baka masyado nang mataas yung dissipation kapag umakyat pa B+. I know that Andrew kasi likes to push the limits of his design as far as he can take it without damaging the tubes.

Acutually bro, what i do know is that it was optimized to use 5ar4.

Hi guys was able to hear Mike's AMX(chassis lang) hehe, ganda ganda!!! The amp was hooked up to an Xbox (for cd playing) and it sounded really good. It was warm and sweet with very nice soundstage and depth to it. Vocals soar and yes the usher speakers were definitely singing!!! Sarap mag sound trip!!!

try it out first...for some people, there have been no discernible diference...i'm not sure kasi haven't tried one yet...but definitely it diffuses the heat ng tubes...pero di we want a "warmer" sound??? heheheh! peace!

yup its for microphonics daw...

you can also DIY them using teflon tape, styrofoam - even saw one made of bamboo (for the 300b)

pero maganda yung metal no? kaso sasabihan ka ng asawa mo "buti pa tubes mo binilhan mo ng alahas!"

styrofoam? nagbibiro ba kayo? firstly, you have to deal with 200 degrees heat, nag parang ice cream ang styrofoam dyan. even rubber can't stand such heat, parang sunog na goma yan.

teflon tape i can understand due to its very high heat resistance, pero how can you combat microphonics kung tape lang?

the purpose of these accessories is - combat microphonics.
