This amp just arrived this morning here in Zambo City.

Out of the box, this 15-watt el84 pp amp sounded as loud as my Rotel 70 watt amp (RB03) driving the 84db Mordaunt Short 3.10. The music presentation was very pleasant, lacking the aggressiveness of the Rotel. This is what I expected from a tube amp. The bass was not as full and deep as the Rotel amp, but is likely to improve after hours of use.

Specs:

EL84 Push pull paraphase auto bias amplifier 2 channels, 15 watts per channel, 8 or 4 ohms impedance switchable.
Signal input for mrated output 2.8 Vrms. Frequency Response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 db

Tubes: 4 pcs, EL84 Toshiba NOS/NIB, 2 Pcs. 12aX7 Matsucrapa NOS/NIB, 1 pc 5V4 Trigon London NOS/NIB.

Congrats sir.. as for the aggressiveness i'm sure it can't provide you that at 15watts and EL84 tube w/c are known for there sweet and luscious sound.. hmmm try 6550, KT-88 or EL34 PP will give your Rotel amp a good challenge..

yup eto nga yun type ko na specs.....congrats louie! kumpleto na pala with narra side panels pa..... nice layout baka gayahin ko 'to, got response from andrew na interchangeable ang EL84 with 6V6 palit lang ng tube socket & bias resistor, makakatipid ako dahil kumpleto na ko sa tubes salamat kay iceman.

Agree ako diyan Vince, very good looking and nice sounding amp too. Perfect for a relaxed music experience. It also rocks with Dr. Dre, White Stripes and Metallica

The AMX EL 84 pp works with both the Killer passive linestage and the Tono preamp. Volume setting of Tono at 9:00 o'clock will sound the same as 12:00 o'clock volume setting of the Killer. Since both the Tono and the Killer are kinda neutral, the Tono just adds a very slight revealing presentation. This is maybe due to the additional gain from the Tono. I prefer the sound of the mellower Killer passive.

Tama pala, walang listening fatigue pag naka tube amp.

greetings to all tube fanatics! this is my first time to enter into this forum and I was shock on how many are really interested in tubes. Kay Andrew pa. Anyway, RU9 I got the same el 84 but I have the 12AU7 and a GZ34. I thought my Epos 11 will be too much for the amps but this thing rocks. Well once in a while cuz my comander will complain. I guess that's one way to test if your amp is loud enough. Heh heh. I got a small room and the set up was more like monitors in studio. The most I got out of mine was 2 o'clock in the volume control. Oh yes, that Andrew, I hate him. He ask me to try out my Epos in 4ohms and the rest is sleepless nights. I even txt him in the middle of the night to complain how sweet this baby can be in 4 ohms. He just told me to look at the gray metal part. As long as it does not glow maybe you can do it to your MS. Sabi niya baka mas malapit nakadesign ang Epos for 4ohms. I don't have the pictures...now if Andrew is kind enough to post my baby. Actually she's kinda old. The transformers are almost 50 years old about to be thrown in the garbage dump when somebody suggested that trans of olds sometimes sounds better. That somebody is the same guy I am complain about. Biro mo I napagastos pa lalo ako ng masmaraming LP tsaka CDs!!!

I am glad that you are enjoying the sweetness of your AMX EL84 amp. My amp is set at 8 ohms, it does have the 4ohm tap. Thank you for your suggestion, I will ask Andrew about this 4 ohm setting.

Meron ako kilala kasi na ganyan eh, kunyari walang setup pero meron pala, ako pa tuloy yun napahiya.
