changed my EL84 to EL34, matches VERY WELL with my Concept 6, more power, more bass.......

I started with an EL84 and the tubes that were even bought together with the transformer in thrift shop. It was rusty and dusty all over. Brought it to AMX and after a few weeks.....magic!!!! Connected it to my EPOS 11, NAD 502 cd player, lots of lp players such as dual, JVC now finally with a Sansui SR 838. Most of my listening now is done with a FM tuner Sansui TU-S9. Cheapest sound you can get and does not fall much behind the cd I play with. At times it sound even greater. Get an aerial antenna and you are into very gooooood music for free. As stated in my thread before, Andrew ask me to try tapping the speakers into the amp using the 4ohm taps and guess what happen? Sleepless nights.....in FM palang yon. Try it with AMX brew speakers and for the price it can sound even better than many of the imported british and american speakers. If you are a beginner go for the cheapest AMX (EL 84) and go for their speakers made to match the amps. It is money worth investing for many years. Now kung kinakati ang kamay mo try then the other more expensive ones. who knows you might even end up still with the EL 84. If not try the modification route. Change some caps and resistors and it will even outrun many 60 thousand worth amps. Look for better speakers at a fraction of a cost and you got a killer. This is just my opinion after going through "the more expensive the better" mistakes. Now if expensive stuff is your thrill compare them with the AMX and ask yourself " is it worth the 100 thousand pesos or whatever the amount is difference?"

Hi, as far as I know KT88 is a Penthode tube and 300B tube is a triode. Theres no way you can swap them not to mention the base socket they are totally different.

No hiss, no hum. Sound is better than my previous imported well-known tube amps.

Paired with Fostex-designed backloaded horns (using Fostex FE206E).

Parang 300B yun tubes ah. Sa ganda ng chasis design, siguradong maganda tunog nyan!
I do own 1 AMX contodo preamp at saka AMX CD line buffer. In my experience, AMX products
are for keeps!!! With the quality transformer and Andrew selected no-nonsense premium
parts, these gears are for keeps!!! (NO hiss, no hums , I agree).
I saw a consigned JADIS sa phasetron and I compared the sound to AMX. Magugulat ka
sa tunog, No hypes, no bola, maganda tunog !!!

2 x 5U4G (rectifier)
1 x 6N1P (preamp)
2 x 12AX7 (driver)
2 x EL34 (output)

Just a perfect match to my (also) custom-made 100db/w/m single-driver Fostex horns!

I have been quite busy, actually very busy with my other "Ultimate Business". Now I have had time again in my lab to tinker. I have been comparing the pros and cons of SE vs Pushpull, and Single driver vs Multiway. In my style of listening I say I have a preference for SE and Horn Loaded single driver set ups. Laki lang loudspeaker! It just sounds snappier and has better spatial presentation. Acoustical wavefront is almost life like. Like the singer and instrumentalist are with you. So I got inspired and I am now working on my series of Se amplifier, much improved from the first ones i did a couple of years ago. I have redesigned the output trannies with higher inductances to render really deep lows, and multisection windings to improve detail and definition. I am now enjoying my SEUL 5 watter like never before. Will keep you posted in the developments.

Just completed breadboarding my second SE model, move over 300b!

300B may just prove to be an overpriced, overated triode. My test tonight was very encouraging. I got less than 0.5% THD at 1 watt, and I was not using a 300B and at 10 glorious SE watts THD was less than 2%. When I connected the loudspeakers, one channel only at the moment, i have not yet wound the other tranny,, I already enjoyed the music it gave. Actually I could not believe myself. The months spent and kilos of copper wire used on my research to design and build a better output tranny must have paid off. Still tweaking at the moment, but it looks very promising.
