Problems playing 3D Blu Ray Movies bought here
« on: Mar 05, 2012 at 10:00 AM »
I recently purchased 2 blu ray films, Kungfu Panda 2 and Thor, both in 3D version at Astrovision. How come both won't play in 3D when my player is a Pioneer BD 140 3D ready connected to a Samsung 51" Plasma 3D. All i get is a blu screen that says something like both unit should be 3D ready...blah blah....and firmware must be updated. I check the firmware of my player and its updated. Can anybody shed light on this problem? My other blu ray films which I purchased thru amazon.com worked perfectly fine. Is there something wrong with blu ray films sold locally?

Could be your hdmi cable. Try using another (1.4 version).

I had the HDMI cables replaced also with 1.4v. I got them at Anson's Appliance Store. Are there fake ones?

I'm not aware of fake ones. But either your cable is defective or version 1.3 only. Btw are the bds you got from Amazon, 3Ds also? If these are 3D bds and you were able to watch them without any hitch then seems like the problem is with the 3D bds you got from Astrovision as you have managed to isolate But I don't see the logic why it should be defective.

I was able to watch Shrek 1, 2, 3, 4 and under the sea IMAX in 3D with no problem. I guess i'll just have to get my movies abroad.

South East Asia(where the Philippines is located) and America(not only the USA but almost the whole America) shares the same blu-ray Region code which is region A so blu-ray discs bought from Amazon USA and local ones should both be compatible with local region A BD players.

From Blu-Ray.com:
Regions

Although a large portion of all Blu-ray movies are region free (when this is written about two-thirds of all Blu-ray movies are region free) below is a map of the official regions.

# Region A: America, Japan, Korea, South East Asia
# Region B: Greenland, Europa, Africa, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand
# Region C: China, India, Russia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Central, and South Asia.

Agree with you Sir. My laptop plays region 1 dvd's only. But if you insert a region 3 it will ask you if you want to change region code.
