Got to watch:
Sisterakas
El Presidente
Sosy Problems

I enjoyed Sosy Problems the most. And you know why. :D

El Presidente I think is good but feeling ko parang ang bilis ng pacing at sa dami ng characters parang extra lang lahat. Hehe.

I am just curious, is it because of the lack of budget or lack of knowledge on the part of the movie makers? Except purely drama of comedy movies, thanks at walang ibang hollywood or foreign movies ang pinapalabas or else, baka langawin itong mga to.

rather lack of political will to uplift the Filipino culture...

the local movie industry was about to do that before but because of martial law, the middle class who can demand for that kind of change were either killed, jailed, tortured or simply migrated...what's left was the poor and uneducated, the masses who're continually patronizing the junk we see on the screen, the things we hear on the radio and the stuff we watch on the television

right now i think the middle class is emerging as a game changer again because of more favorable conditions, so the timing is ripe for discussions like this to flourish and eventually be acted upon by the movers and the shakers of the industry...

They did it. Let's see how GMA Films will react with its future films.

'Sisterakas' is PH's highest grossing local film

The 38th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) comedy entry "Sisterakas" is now the country's highest grossing local film of all time.

In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com on Tuesday, Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino said "Sisterakas," which stars Ai Ai delas Alas, Vice Ganda and Kris Aquino, will set the record after earning more than P340 million when the annual film fest closes on Tuesday night.

"Baka umabot sila ('Sisterakas') ng P350 million. Siguro ngayon pumapalo na sila between P340 million to P350 million kasi hanggang gabi pa siya," Tolentino said.

Jointly produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films, "Sisterakas" has now beaten the  record set by "The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin," also starring Vice Ganda, which made P331.61 million when it was released in 2011.

Meanwhile, Tolentino predicted that the total combined gross of all eight MMFF 2012 entries will reach between P750 million and P755 million -- also a record for the annual film fest.

Tolentino is expected to give full details of MMFF ticket sales on Wednesday.

kahit libre pa..hindi ko talaga kaya seeing a bad quality tagalog film. To be frank here in cebu linangaw nga yun mga 2012 filipino films. Totoo ba talaga ang pinakita sa tv adds dito sa cebu where manila's large crowd are crazy about this films? it's ironic kasi dito sa cebu hindi talaga nag click yun mga films na yan.

Some Cebuano friends of mine demanded that Cebu's movie theater operators should be "freed from the tyrannical clutches of the MMFF" and be allowed to show other films that people there would like to watch. They link MMFF with Imperial Manila.

Manila is a very congested place and with the vacation, wala na talagang mapuntahan ang tao maliban sa mga malls na pinuno ng ganyang klaseng mga pelikula. Forced to good ang tao ika nga. But quality wise, pwedeng e-consider lang dapat ang mga'to for TV showing. For me, i feel that the industry just took advantage of the situation. ang mahal pa naman din.

What's sad is the fact na kinakagat ng masa kasi yun lang naiintindihan nila. What's even sadder is that MMFF film makers really target the jolog crowd kaya lang in the process, everyone get's locked up their kabaduyan. Its like all the coffee shops suddenly only sell taho coz its a taho festival and we all have to wait till the festival is over to have decent coffee again. (no offense to all taho lovers out there) :)

Changes must be made to stop the madness. The quality of the films showing in the MMFF continues to deteriorate. I've only seen the previews on TV because lets face it, they're on every channel. But the "Enteng Kabisote..." preview really makes me wanna throw up. Bad taste talaga. Once a year na nga lang sila mag-produce ng movie, basura pa. There are scenes there that are baduy even in the 80's and yet they still recreate the same scene today. Really pathetic.

I just hope these guys learn to upgrade the standards in making movies.

Pinoy moviegoers deserve better.

pwede namang nakakatawa pero may laman like Crying Ladies.

Amen. Unfortunately with the ton of money that the MMFF movies made, they will just stick to the same formula. Look for a Sisterakas movie every year for the next few years AT LEAST.
