CSI Miami is a bit darker than Las Vegas. Maybe because of David Caruso's presence. He's more cop-like than William Petersen's Gil Grissom who looks more of a scientist. The intimidating factor goes to Caruso, nevertheless.

But I still like both shows. Plotwise, both are perfectly construed.

While I'm a fan of both CSI series, I find myself leaning towards Miami. As to why, maybe it's because I feel that the Miami was grittier than the first one and also because I like David Caruso's Horatio Caine than William Petersen's Gil Grissom. Though I felt that the first CSI had more character interaction in-between characters (though that's just me). I also find that the cases shown in Miami were much more engrossing than the first one.

Another thing I really like about Miami is Calleigh Duquesne (actress Emily Procter) - I find her kinda cute. ;)

Isn't she cute?

I like Las Vegas much much more than Miami.
My wife and I both dislike David Caruso, he's more suited to Homicide than CSI.
I like bullet girl, but aside from that the supporting characters are just like fillers unlike the Las vegas crew.

Let's put it this way, i ain't gonna buy Miami's DVD.

Las Vegas by far.

The most interesting cast member of Miami was fired. The supporting characters have no interesting back stories, they function as window dressing. Caruso is such a one-note performer: every single role of his is "I'm the intense (cop, forensic scientist, etc) who has a sensitive side."

But then again, that's better than Grissom, who has NO emotions whatsoever.  ;D

Which show was I defending again?  ::)

Actually, I wasn't too fond of CSI Season Three, which was produced at the same time as CSI Miami Season One, so based on that alone, it's almost a draw.

But early CSI was really good.

My husband and I both prefer CSI Las Vegas.  The only person worth watching in CSI Miami is Caruso.

This could very well be one of those personality tests, where your choice will tell you who you are. So if I say "Las Vegas," I wonder what that says about me?

vegas is good in terms of the characters but when it comes to cases, miami kicks a**.. horatio character is my personal favorite, yes but miami really lacks in developing their characters..

kim delaney got fired after 10 episodes because her character wasn't so relevant so to speak..

but all in all.. i give credit for both.. as long as there's an investigation, a dead body, ALS, etc.. im there!  8) ;D

Catherine can take Delaney's & Bullet Girl's characters combined. The men of Las Vegas can outwit the boys of Miami. ;D

In one other CSI forum someone wrote  why LV is the choice of many over Miami --- Las Vegas is Sin City (crime & violence) and Miami is Sunshine City (fun & festivities) so --- Las Vegas' setting has the edge, sets the mood for "crime-solving".

Agree? Disagree?

If it's about perfect settings, I'd definitely go for a CSI Louisiana or CSI London.

CSI Las Vegas rules!  ;D

The geeks are still the best.  As Cruzsack said the characters in Las Vegas are more interesting than Miami.  I caught a few episodes of Miami and I didn't like it.

I like CSI Las Vegas than CSI Miami, but I like the opening song of the latter than the former  ;D

To Mr. Hankey: I also didn't like season 3 of CSI Las Vegas, and the last two episodes didn't quite deliver what the producers promised  :(

a CSI London would be perfect, with the foggy and damp streets, it would be a challenge to find or preserve evidence.

CSI Manila... if there is such a thing... hehe...

but seriously, i would root for CSI Las Vegas. For one, it has character... story revolves around the characters... the cases are also much more interesting...

The only way I can see this working is if they make it radically different from the other two, much like the way Law & Order: Criminal Intent is different from L&O and L&O: Special Victims Unit, which are very similar in format.

Heck, I'm not even fond of the first CSI spin-off.  ::)

CBS has indeed announced that CSI: New York is already in the making.

CSI Las Vegas has better character development and character interactions (Catherine's family and her relationshiop to Sam Brown, the Grissom-Sanders exchanges, the Warrick-Nick-Sidle patalbugan, Brass and his daughter, Nick and the hooker, Warrick's gambling and its effects). All the members of the team (even Sanders and the coroner)are not just accessories for Grissom, unlike in CSI Miami where only Horatio Caine seems to be the center of the universe.

Love Las Vegas. Like Miami. Horatio Cane is  egocentric , flambuoyant and often ingratiating. That's his character.  And David Caruso plays it to the hilt. I think it's called acting.  ;D  He is the center of the Miami universe , I agree, but he's the main reason I watch the show so center yourself by all means, Mr. Caruso. Hehe.

Like Mr.Hankey has said, New York has to be radically different for it to work. Miami tries hard to be as diametrically opposed  to Vegas as possible. And  I think its nuances and sensibilities are endemic to its locale. It would've silly and useless to just carbon-copy the dynamics of  Vegas.  Unfortunately, looks like a lot of fans would've prefered more of the same.Miami ain't better than Vegas  - - -the writing tends to get rudimentary and contrived a lot of times - - -  just different, but different  often causes a lot of trouble in TVland. (No one talks as much about twin Peaks as they do Sex and the City, for instance).  Besides, when you follow in the footsteps of anything much-loved, you're bound to always always pale. That's the nature of the universe. And of fans.  ;)

Willing to bet that Friends spin-off isn't going to catch much fire among fans- - -even if it turns out to be good. (Is it still pushing through?) ;D

well, looks like they're trying out something different for CSI:NY

- Hollywood Reporter stated today that CSI: New York will have some "significant changes to the formula" of the previous CSI series. As reported earlier, the cast will focus heavily on the work and lives of the two main characters, a man and woman who work together as investigators. Anthony Zuiker is mum on casting details. "We want to open it up to the main characters earlier than we have on the other shows," Zuiker said. The seeds for "CSI: New York" will be planted in this season's second-to-last episode of "CSI: Miami," in which investigators from "Miami" will be called to New York to investigate a murder involving a Miami resident. Zuiker and CSI executive producers Carol Mendelsoh and Ann Donahue will head to NYC early next month to get a feel for the visuals and check up on how forensics investigators work in the Big Apple. Zuiker said, "We want to amp up the visual style on this show and really make New York a character. We'll have a lot of hand-held camera work to really get us out on the streets."

I foresee a Mulder-Scully character dynamic for the two characters in CSI:NY

that would be interesting.. especially for those people who are really into character background and development.. if they become very likeable by the viewers, that would be a great success such as scully and mulder in the x-files.
