I never thought this speaker sounded so good than my old AN Super 8 for my ears and other audio gurus that owns and heard it, as well.  So, I would like to share some videos of it to have an idea.

The 2 initial videos has no technical problem.  The background noise was from an insect.  I am sorry. :(  I'll upload a better one after break in period.
Video 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJsh7Nn7b4I&feature=youtu.be

Video 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRbux64bjZs&feature=youtu.be

Video 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvNOpcjU2aA&feature=youtu.be

Video 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4Suugj4tLU&feature=youtu.be

Video 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2ayz5FXms8&feature=youtu.be

Video 6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz-tXxe22y4&feature=youtu.be 50 hrs.broken on SQ Test feat. THIS IS THE END by THE DOORS

If you are interested you can contact the owner directly through this link:
http://www.commonsenseaudio.com/nirvana.html

Thanks for watching. ;)

NOTE: The amp is 6 days old and was used 8 hours max. per day.  The speakers were used for 2 weeks with max.of 8 hours per day.  It means, that what you heard was not its true SQ yet.  I will upload again after 2 or 3 months after its break in period. ;)

They can do it. P1,200 per pair ang akin depends sa size.

What's the best box design that would optimize the capability of the standard 8?

it really depends on your preference, though David Dicks suggests a Bigger cabinet, a 2.8 mkII or better if 5.6 or 5.6 mkII using MDF, double bass reflex cabs also gives earth rumbling lows. Any Audio Nirvana speaker performs well on a Floorstander, an exception would be the alnico which also performs really good in a bookshelf. Any Audio nirvana speaker comes with the cabinet plans of your choice from David Dicks website.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hello sir Joey.  As per experience, I modify the 2.8 MK2 of David Dicks by putting partition with same port size on the front. It gives a combination of OB hifreq.and midfreq.details and subz like bass frequency. Here's the picture of what I made for our brother here in PDVD.

HERE IS THE NEW VERSION OF 2.8 MK2 CABINET PLAN WITH DOUBLE BASS REFLEX

Better to use MDF esp.for piano finish which is better.  Don't use any silver wire on these speakers.  Just use high copper content and use 2 wires (+) and 1 wire (-) to give better result.  The sound quality of 2.8MK2 DBR with AN Standard 8 fresh from its delivery box was already good. ;)

Note: Recommended foam: Uratex Bio Aire Foam (yellow) but blue is ok... Go direct to Uratex supplier.

naku! pagdating dyan eh di ko na alam kung magkano ang landed cost ng standard 8, it took me almost 1/2 month to receive my AN super 8 alnico, I picked it up from the post office. sabi kasi ni mon eh parang mas matagal daw yung shipping ngayon...
pero si Monreq na ang nakakaalam nyan. PAGING BRADER MONREQ!!!  ;D

Then, kapalan ng masilya at polyurethane coating with top coat vaspar varnish if possible.  Make sure the vaspar varnish is applicable sa polyurethane paint. But so far, ok naman kinalabasan. :)

Sir Joey, shipping cost: AN Standard 8 128usd + Insurance + Delivery via USPS + Custom Charges nasa mga P4k - 6K lang.  Depende kasi yan kung magkanu mo pina declare.  Ako kasi sa 100usd lang pero since dalawang pares kinuha namin nagbayad kami sa custom ng 3,700php more or less.

Medyo maayos na naman ang Phil.Post Office Pasay kasi nagreklamo ako. Same location ng EMS at Custom sa old airport road ng domestic.  4-5days nasa Post Office na yan.  Then, if after 10 days wala ka pa notice from Philippine Post Office to pick it up, puntahan mo na to follow up "using your USPS Tracking No." (USPS can be tracked on line). So better to have your speakers addressed to your Makati office or nearby Pasay area.

We order the drivers directly from David in this link: http://www.commonsenseaudio.com/nirvana.html. We e mailed the supplier and paid via paypal to be safer.  Enclosure were made locally by a carpenter and car painter.  The cabinet design we prefer was 2.8 MK2 but I modify the internal by putting partition (Double Bass Reflex inspired) on it to give a subz like low frequency without affecting the hi frequency and mid frequency. :)

Btw, dapat mahusay din carpenter mo.  Dapat maintidihan niya mabuti mga sukat at panu binuo.  Ako kasi gumawa na ng pattern by using  cheap board from National Book store.

This is the the link that inspired me about Double Bass Reflex.  I combine the principle to David's 2.8 MK2 Cabinet design.

Link:http://diyaudioprojects.com/Speakers/LY401F/

OB and subz like combination were the SQ I heard when I tested it even under break in period of 3 hours only. Bass was tight, detailed.  Bass guitar plucking was so natural and not exaggerated.

Note: DO NOT USE ANY BAFFLE CORRECTION CIRCUIT ON AUDIO NIRVANA. TUNE THE CABINET PROPERLY, BY PUTTING FOAM ON TOP, SIDE, REAR, BOTTOM ONLY, ALL OVER THE INTERNAL CABINET.  USE URATEX BIO AIRE FOAM OR IMPORTED ACOUSTIC FOAM IF YOU HAVE BUDGET. USE HIGH COPPER CONTENT INTERNAL WIRES.  (2 WIRES FOR + AND 1 WIRE -).  USE HIGH COPPER CONTENT SPEAKER WIRES AND NOT SILVER OR ANY SILVER-COPPER COMBINATION WIRES.

I'm wondering right now how to achieve that kind of a look. I collect dragons kasi.

Correction about the prices and custom charges.  The total cost of the speakers is more or less P11K - 12K including price of speaker, USPS charges, Insurance and Custom Charges. :)

Sir Joey you'll never go wrong with Audio Nirvana.  Magnet is a very important factor in the speakers.  Size and quality matters.  Just like big Ferrite magnet of Dynaudio and Alnico magnet of Audio Nirvana.  You wonder why subwoofer speakers and Audio Nirvana uses big ferrite magnets? It's all about power that affects details and soundstage of the speaker.  Just my experience. ;)

I would suggest to let Mr. Trod93 analyze the cabinet plan and built it using MDF.  Then, he or you can look for a good car painter for your cabinets. :)

Agree to Sidny. ;D

This was TNT review of Audio Nirvana Standard 8 when the new version of 2.8 MK2 was never created and the suggestion of top to bottom internal insulation was not used.  Before, the damping material should be place on the upper part only.  Now, David suggests to put it top to bottom except front area.  He also adjust the port location near to bottom area.

So here is the old review of Audio Nirvana Standard 8.  It was just their opinion and experience.  But we can consider them.

Here is the link: http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/t-speakers_e.html
