here another new thing coming from Hollywood, aside from 4k, they also brewing up on 48fps.
They say it improves 3d and give images the soap opera.

'The Hobbit' In 48 FPS: Warner Bros. Plans Limited Release Of Controversial New Technology
Peter Jackson isn't the only one who thinks that audiences need some time to digest 48 frames-per-second technology. In a somewhat surprising bit of news, Variety reports that Warner Bros. will not widely release "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" in 48 fps 3D this December.

i was looking forward to this film's release, hoping there'll be at least one cinema here that will show it in 48fps, and be able to judge for myself if the end result would be to my liking. personally i don't like the "soap-opera" effect when watching movies at home, but there were times though while watching Prometheus and The Amazing Spider-Man in 3D on the big screen when i thought that maybe some fast paced scenes could look better if they were shot 48fps...

sadly the odds just got slimmer due to recent developments

I wonder if the hobbit will screen at 48fps here in the philippines or the question should be if any of the cinemas here are capable of screening movies at 48fps. Im just curious about the format. I want to see the difference. :)

I don't remember any news article or blog post saying that the Gokongweis and Sys upgraded their digital cinemas to be able to play 48fps.  ???

We may need to confirm this further.

Where did you watched the movie? I will watch this tomorrow on IMAX sa MOA. I think hindi sya 48fps kase its in 3D. I might watch again to see the difference. ;) Thanks!

Just did a quick research, supported pala ng 48fps ang 3D. The question now if this also applies in IMAX 3D.

Yeah, they call it HFR 3D. IMAX MOA does not have HFR. Regular 3D lang. So I'm guessing that's the 24fps version in 3D which, imo, is crap.

I'll watch it again in the regular HFR then. hehe. Do they screen 2D HFR or only in 3D?
