Congrats on your purchase! I hope that it will last for decades and more decades of use. Can you please narrate us a background of video experience, say, to what TV did you start with before reaching VT30 plasma? Have you tried CRT, sure of course? Have you tried LCD? Share us a story. Thank you! ;D

Ipalit mo agad to VT in case Vic accepts the trade.  Less than 5K difference between an ST and a VT - that's a great deal!!!

So how much is the 50VT30?  - about 60K perhaps?

Congrats sir sayang nakabili na ako ng 42st30  :D.

Realistically, any HDTV right now would have aged like 30-50 years in a decade - probably would still be functional after 10 years but with the fast pace of advancements, eh maiiwan ng panahon ika nga.

Im sure a VT would still be better than OK even after 5 years;  my V2 is already 2.5 years old and I am still very amazed at its image quality (built-in sound system is not that bad actually and definitely better than most HDTVs) -  wag lang akong pupunta sa electronic stores because then I would realize how nicer the V5 is...but then the itch to get a newer TV can kick very hard by the 5th year.

Congrats on your purchase! I hope that it will last for decades and more decades of use.

Actually this TV could be obsolete if they come out with 5D inter-phase.  Thats right you see it correctly 5D inter-phase.  The Japanese are working on a TV that will allow characters to "pop out" of the screen go to your kitchen, and cook you dinner and then  serve it to you LIVE AND IN REAL TIME!   ;D

I heard the R&D is working on adding the sense of smell on the TV.

Just imagine watching a cooking show, or a TV variety show with fully made-up actresses on heavy perfume (I think they smell like foundation though  ;D).

On the other hand, what about watching sweaty, wickedly smelly soccer players or x-rated movies?      ;D

BTW, are you intent on looking for the "allegedly" issues of the VT30 screen?  I wouldnt bother at all if I were you.  Ang galing ng TV mo kahit maliwanag ang room diba?  Cheers!

Kung ganon, walang kuwenta yan sir.

Ang kailangan ko, a TV with characters that will first go to the grocery and buy the ingredients, and then go to the kitchen, cook and serve the dinner...   :D

Wala rin palang kuwenta yan sir.  Paano kung favorite movie ko ay Slumdog Millionaire, at ang favorite scene ko doon ay yung CR scene?   :o

I would say the ST50 is practically at par with the VT30 in terms of image quality (the difference in built-in sound system can be regarded as trivial perhaps)

Pero kung di ka masaya sa ST50, there is always the GT50 and the VT50

Panasonic skipped "4X" dahil sa pamahiin.

Since the VT30 is selling for less than 40K, hopefully ganoon din maging street price ng ST50 when it's finally released.  Kaso, I think they are essentially dumping the 2011 models at the moment.   Thats not bad if you are talking of the VT30 though.

ST30 owners who bought from SnS, isip-isip ng upgrade via Vic if possible.  Good chance!

Yes, that's what the reviewers are saying.

This year's mid-end ST50 is at par with last year's highest-end VT30 as far as PQ is concerned.  That's quite a big leap in improvement.

Hope you get to check a VT or the new ST50.  I certainly look forward to your impression of the low-glare image quality.    ;)

No need to break it in.

Break in helps prevent burn-in, but burn-in is no longer an issue for plasmas.  Image retention is still a plasma issue, but break in procedures don't prevent image retention.
