Bookshelves mounted between the window..
« on: Sep 10, 2012 at 04:29 PM »
I'm planning on setting up my bookshelves used for Music between the living room window. 7 feet apart.

Will it have any effect on the sound/acoustics, or should I just close the windows?

*this question is related with this thread: LINK
*I guess will have to post  a pic later where i plan on putting it.

TIA

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I notice you are using a rear ported-speaker(B1). Glass tends to reflect/amplify frequencies so you may hear some sort of distortion because of it. To prevent that from happening, a thick set of curtains over your window should absorb the sound properly. try roman shades, it's a stylish looking curtain  ;)

Hi  :D couldn't access photobucket or imageshack here in the office.

The placement i'm thinking of is something like this:

Just replace the two picture frames with mounted speakers and will be place lower in ear-level when standing up. My height is almost 5'5 hehe.

Will the sound be optimal or should I think of putting it elsewhere?

Thanks again. :)

Oh you mean, the window would be between the speakers? That's alright. Treat it as a reflective surface when it's closed and a non-reflective surface when it's open.
