Video Streaming problem - from NAS direct to T.V.
« on: Sep 13, 2012 at 11:32 PM »
Is there anyone out there who can help me?

I am having problems with my current set-up;

NAS (Buffalo linkstation), used as storage device for my movies, music, etc.
D-Link DIR-655 router
T.V. Samsung UA40C500 LED with WiFi dongle

I use the T.V. as the streaming device to watch movies via WiFi connection.  The videos run smoothly, even at 1080P.  The problem is that at the middle of the movie, it stalls, and I have to restart the T.V. for it to be able to detect the NAS again.  What is also weird is that it runs MKV files, but some other movie titled which are also MKV files do not play at all (it says file format not supported).  Wierd, since it can run the other MKV files.  I even tried playing MP3, and the same thing happens.  It stalls sometimes in the middle of some song and I have to restart the T.V.

Will upgrading the firmware of my T.V. resolve my issue?
I am also thinking of getting a media player (Mede8er maybe), thinking that the buffering can be handled better (of course, also with a WiFi set-up).

Thanks in advance.
