Hi All,

Are these set-up is good enough?

AV Receiver : Pioneer VSX521
Speaker: Wharfedale HCP (5.1)
Room Size: 9ftx11ft

Purpose: Gaming(30%)/Movies(50%)/Music(20%)
fit kasi sa budget ko na 25k

If you're limited to a 25k budget, that's about as good as it gets for a brand new 5.1 set. The Diamond 9 HCP should be better than the DX-1 HCP in the majority of cases (unless you're really short of space).

If you can extend your budget or are willing to buy in stages, then that'd open up other options.

^^agree and even more emphasis on the starting to build in stages...2.0 to 2.1...to 3.1...to 5.1...to 7.1 and it goes on and on and on and then you realize you are infected by SARS. Lol. just kidding, its best to build in stages because you get what you want agad.

how would I know if DX1 HCP sya or Cinema 9 HCP?

nakalagay lang kasi sa pricelist ni sir Vic,

HCP - 15,800
Cinema 9 - 13,900

yung mas mura ba si Cinema 9 HCP. yun na kukunin ko. mura na better pa.

pero mag auaudition muna ako. sana si ako ma Sars

Decided to go for 3.0 for a while then buy a subwoofer in Christmas bonus.

- AV Receiver (Pioneer 521k or 821k)
- Polkaudio (CS10) - Center
- Polkaudio (TSi100) - Left and Right

total damage
- 10,000 (brandnew) 521k / 12,500 (refurbished) 821k
- 7500 (center)
- 8500 (Left and Right)

Ayos na ayos yan sir. Those are already very good choices.

But for an additional alternative, think about floorstanding speakers. I suggest receiver + floorstander left & right:

- AV Receiver (Pioneer 521k or 821k)
- Polkaudio (TSi300) - Left and Right

Due to budget constraints, wala munang center.

Personally, mas maganda ang impact ng floorstander kahit walang center, vs. bookshelf + center. Pero depende pa rin sa user yan. May mahilig sa bookshelf, kasi mas accurate daw ang bass, especially for music; may mahilig naman sa floorstander, kasi talagang mas malaki ang sound pag mas malaki ang speaker.

Next upgrade is subwoofer. After that, center; then surrounds.

Go for a 2.1

Get a bigger BS. And get a vintage stereo amp.

Use your pioneer as a pre-amp, utilizing only the surrounds and center amps when you already have those.

I'm sure mabibitin ka sa power ng pioneer, specially sa music.

Ako ngayon for music I dont use the sub anymore. Solve na solve na ko sa bass using just my BS.

To my knowledge the 521 and the 821 does not have preouts, how does one connect an AV receiver to a power amp without the benefit of preouts? I've been trying to look for a thread about this but I have not succeeded. I think the TS could use this knowledge too since his receiver choices do not have pre outs...

Dati may nakita ako sa FS section na with pre-outs, pre-owned at around 20K. Not sure kung available pa.

psw 110 kasi better frequency response.

The tsi is known to be bright and so is the pio, so it might sound harsh na.

since gusto ko muna iminimize ang gastos at pag uupgrade since manggaling ako sa 5.1 pc speakers, then it is good to go with the pio 521 and diamond 9, right?

Decent na ang prices ng wharf diamond 10, i dont think you can find speakers that sound that way na may quality at the same price point.

I agree with Diamond 10.

ang ganda na.. mas magustuhan ko pa nga sya sa Polk Audio TSi100 using Pio 521K. pero di ko gusto tunog nya sa Onkyo 515 the best pa din ang Polky sa Onkyo..

pero mas maganda audition mo boss. dalhin mo yung receiver mo po sa shop para BIG Smile pag uwi ng bahay..

for several reasons, i am to choose only between klipsch hd 500 or wharfedale diamond 9 hcp. which should i pick? too bad yun lang klipsch ang na-try ko kasi walang pang demo na stock yun diamond 9.

whats your receiver?

i had polk monitor 60(same as tsi 400)
set 5.1 including psw125

if paired with pio its on the bright side...
somehow natame ng mcacc pero bright side pa din

if you want warm go wharf - laid back
if you want livelyness with a bit of brightness go with klipsch
bright din yan

will be using with pioneer 521. sensya noob, di ko alam kung ano yun warm at bright. hehe. pero nun dinemo ko yun klipsch parang mas matinis o aggressive ang sounds. nun tinry ko naman ang wharf (though 10.1 yun) mas deep ang tunog nya.

bright - makalansing > others wants it dahil lively daw others tends to get tire listening to it..
ill go wharf 10.1 if you use pio - ok and synergy nyan

Hello Gurus!

Newbie po.

My AVR has 2 sets of speaker output. A (5ch) & B (2ch). I am using a pair bigger floorstander speakers connected to B for music. Connected to A right now are my old satellite speakers from an HTIB. Maliliit lang po sila. My HTIB btw, is the type na nakabundle pag bili ng TV.

Ang gusto ko po sana ay magamit din ang tower speakers ko for the fronts of the 5.1 output. Pede ko po ba ikabit parin yung LR ng 5.1 sa floor stander? Magiging 2 sets of wire na po ang kakabit sa bigger speaker.

I am using Onkyo SR313 and MS Carnival 6 for this setup. Yung AVR po ay my speaker switching para maging A->AB->B ang speakers. Nag aalala po ako baka may masira pag AB speakers na po ang active.

Uber laki ng Diamond 10CM, pati 10CS, wala bang CC dito na nag bebenta?
di ko tuloy matapos tapos yung set-up ng papa ko. malapit na mag pasko. di pa tapos.

mali kasi pag kakagawa ko sa DIY Audio Rack eh. nakasukat sa CS10, mapupunta pala ako sa Diamond 10.

san may nag bebenta dito ng Diamond 10CC, CS lang meron sila eh.

same size lang ba ang cs and cm ng diamond 10? di ko pa kasi nakikita actual unit eh..baka di kasya sa rack ko..hehe! i am eyeing on cs kasi medjo mura and besides maliit lang rin naman ang room ko..
