sir i need input or advice. on the following: townhouse po kasi ung tinitirhan ko ngaun. now nag set up po kasi ako ng HT ko. gsto ko po sana malaman if ano ung mgandang ilagay to reduce or cancel out noise sa labas iniiwasan ko po kasi na magingay at manisturbo ng kapitbhay madlas po kasi akong manuod ng movies midnight.  pwede po ba mkapal na curtain tulad nung nasa mga movies house? or dapat ung pang sound proof po tlga na dinidikit sa pader? meron po ba kayong maisusugest na mas mganda? w/o burning my pocket too much. thank you.

If the sound is leaking out through the window, curtains will be useless. You will need a double window that is tightly sealed.

If the sound is leaking out through the walls or ceilings, sorry ka na Lang. It will be very hard to treat.

How do you know where the sound is passing? By experiment. 

For electronic solutions: The biggest problem will be the bass and the best product I know that can handle that is a new Audyssey product available in the Denon 4520 AVR. The next best is Audyssey Dynamic Volume which is available in a lot of AVRs, especially Denon and Onkyo.

I think its cheaper to send Red Ribbon cake sa neighbors mo  sa umaga 

if you can not contain the bass in your room, Search for "bass shakers", its a device that you attached to your seat or sofa,  it will  shakes the seat and anyone on it, producing the sensation of loud bass, in effect pwede mong bawasan ang volume ng subwoofer mo .

You can also relocate the subwoofer near you, para mabawasan mo yung volume ng sub.

sir my main problem is kpg naka set ung master volume ng AVR ko sa 50 and up nagleleak na po ung sound noise sa window. my window is approximately the size of a 2 boxes of a new 47 inch tv thats the closest thing i can describe my window.  lalo na ung background music coming out from my main front speakers.. medyo may unting bass kpg naka set na sa 50 and up. ok pa naman kpag nasa 45 and down. walang leak.  sa window lang tlga problem ko po sir.

sir qguy, i think red ribbon wont help.    wala pa po ako subwoofer bale speakers pa lang po. pinapakiramdaman ko pa po ung HT room ko if need and if its convinient to get 1. kasi ung front R and L ko na speakers may bass freq na. and i think im contented na. pero im still planning to have a subwoofer.. main prob ko tlga ung sound leak sa window.. linagyan ko na din ng curtain na pang bath room  it kinda help somehow.

plywood tapos may foam tapos balot ng tela.  yun nilagay ko sa windows ko kasi facing directly sa window ng kapitbahay ko dati.  di naman rinig gaano sa labas  \
pag wala yun at nanood ako, malakas ang leak talaga.

tapos dinikitan ko ng rubber (swelas) na per rolyo kaso 1/4" plywood lang kaya medyo tagos pa din pero pwede na kesa wala at least na minimize naman. better siguro kung 1/2" plywood. also, make sure na may rubber both surface para mas lapat at walang vibration. with this, less alikabok at noise from in & out plus madilim kahit tanghaling-tapat ang ht mo. hth

sir ganun din ung room ko sa window facing my neighbors window. pero napansin ko dun sa window nila nakasliding window sila na ung tinted.
 
sir kpag concrete ba tumatagos din ang tunog or bass sa kabilang side? or nalessen lang ung sound?

masanay ka na lang na moderate level kapag alanganing oras na. ganun talaga. a lil courtesy baga. alam mo kung maganda ang room acoustics mo kahit in moderate level maappreciate mo ang panunood/pakikinig.

i schedule what I watch
- kapag nandyan si kapitbahay drama, comedy, tv series lang ang pinapanood ko.
- kapag wala (usually weekend umuuwi sa province) hala banat todo volume at sabay nood ng Avengers, War movies, PS3 to the max!
