I havent tried the pioneer yet but if you can wait 'til the 29th of September darating yong Pioneer elite 81txv (older but a step-up model of 1019AH). We can compare side by side w/ Denon AVR887 (older model of the 2310, from there, me idea ka na kung mas maganda ang 2310 vs. 1019AH. Overall, (as per experience w/ denon 3806) denon is very good HT & audio receiver. Medyo mahal nga lang compared w/ other brands.

go for onkyo and you will never regret it.  Only try to go one step higher since 507 does pass through only on the hdmi.... go for 607 or even the 606 will be fine.

I had my Tx-sr876 with jamo C series for almost a year now and its superb for both movies and music.

Sir, what models you could recommend from the other brands you mentioned with a 50k budget? The Pioneer costs $500 in the US but it costs 40k here and I could get the Denon at 47k.

as i said, if money is no object, i would get the denon. since the other brand's mid to high end model would also fall into the 50-70k range. the 2310 is no slouch. i am just not sure if the 2310 has pre-outs (which can enable you to connect to an external amplifier in the future). the onkyo 806 has pre-outs and i think would be at the same price range as the 2310. but if the 2310 has pre-outs. go with denon.

btw, what speakers are you going to get. matching of avr and speakers is also another thing you have to think about. known avr - speaker match are: yamaha & wharfedale, onkyo & mission. although its not a done thing, but those combo has been very satisfying to a lot of our members here.  :)

I'm planning to buy B & W speakers. From the UK forums I read, the 2310 has no pre-outs.

The onkyo 507 has HDMI 1.3a repeater and not pass through.

On top of my head, Onkyo 507 over Denon 1610:
- 80watts/ch vs denon 75watts/ch
- 4 HDMI ports vs 3
- HDMI port is already CEC
- Learning remote

Denon 1610 over onkyo 507:
- Audyssey MultiEQ vs Onkyo Audyssey 2EQ
- Dolby pro logic IIz - although you need a seperate amp for this
- Analog input

Denon!!!

Denon 2xxx series and up are all made in japan.... The quality is really good.

Denon is good in Audio...especially from their 28xx and up model (AL24 audio processing) Pure Direct mode in 2-channel listening is really good.

The onkyo 507 has HDMI 1.3a repeater and not pass through.

You are right about hdmi1.3a enhancment from its predecessor 506 (using hdmi1.3 only) but defintely it is still pass through since it doesn't upscale or upconvert your SD source to HD unlike the higher entry level of Onkyo which uses foroujah DCDi (606 and 607 has Analog to HDMI video upconversion by Faroujda DCDi) or the HQV reon-VX chps from the 876, 905 and 906.

What the 507 does is repeats the signal from your HD source to your compatible HDTV.

But still, HDMI 1.3a also enables you to enjoy the pristine “lossless” audio of Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™, as well as secondary audio on Blu-ray Disc via DTS-HD Express

just my 2 cents IMHO :)

baka makadagdag sa decision making. I used to have yamaha then got the chance to get the anniv series onkyo 604 paired with jamo 606 and i must say it changed the way i viewed onkyo i really love the sound especially with movies. just recently about 3 months, i got an onkyo606 after reading lots and lots of thread. im using diamond series all through out 9.5 front, 9cs, 9dfs and 9.1 and im very happy with it. the reviews and forums were never wrong although i must admit it sounds better for movies than music(review says it that way really) but im very happy with the movie set up. the explosion scenes are really lifelike and the very powerful as if it explodes inside the room. im sure the higher models that our fellow ht people in this thread would even sound more superior than 606 but for starters 606 really provides high satsifaction.

Need your inputs on what receiver to pair a Polk Audio RTi a7.

Recommended amp power: 20-300w per channel

2 channel setup lang gagawin ko (more on music kasi). I prefer a receiver that has a treble and bass control. No sub will be used din kasi. Harman Kardon ang first choice ko kaso 120w per channel na ang pinakamataas na nakita ko.

Any recommendations/comment/suggestions would be of great help. More power guys!

people say that the hotter it is, the shorter the life of the equipment ... that said, i'm sure the designers took this into consideration.  i personally always use a PC fan powered by a wallwart AC to 12vDC connected to the switched outlet of the receiver and that itself is sufficient to keep the receiver very cool :)

Hi Mike! How do you make this work? Where can I buy wallwart AC to power-up PC fan? Of all the (9) receivers I owned, the onkyo(804) is pretty "HOT" that I can't even touch it after 2 hours of playing. Hindi naman nagshut-shot off, I even torture test it 4 hours straight, i am just worried.  ;D

Denon 1610 or Yamaha 465?
« Reply #1941 on: Sep 22, 2009 at 10:33 PM »
Which is a better entry-level receiver, Yamaha RX-V465 or Denon 1610? I'm a HT newbie, and would like to get your inputs.

Also, which bang-for-the-buck speakers would you recommend for these? I prefer speakers that can be mounted on the wall.

Thanks in advance!

This is usually available with USB-to-SATA adapters for hard disks. I believe you can also purchase this wallwart AC to 12vdc from TipidPC and possibly CD-R King (parang meron kasi lahat ng gamit dun, kaya it's worth a check).

Is it worth the extra bucks?
« Reply #1949 on: Oct 02, 2009 at 07:48 PM »
Im thinking of replacing my Yamaha 363 with a Denon 1610. Both entry level AVRs, cheapest sa brands nila. But the 363 is just 14k and the Denon is 21k. The latter has HD hd audio pero si yammy pass thru lang. I think same lang ang power output nila, 75w.

Denon's Audyssey is a superior speaker/roomn correction feature versus Yamaha's YPAO.

Am i missing a lot kung si Yamaha ko is just video/audio passthru lang? Tama ba na upscaler na din si 1610?

Thanks a lot! ( kamot kamot  ;D )
