HELP suggest onkyo 607 or Denon 1910?
both are 90 watts/channel @8ohms

To be paired with polks audio TSI speakers

suggest you audition using your speakers, some people would say one thing or the otehr but nothing beats your own ear hearing the sound from the two options you are considering ;)

Re: Pioneer 819 or Yamaha 365?
« Reply #1982 on: Jan 26, 2010 at 08:43 AM »
Hi guys,

I know the term "better" is subjective. Pero tanong ko na lang din, alin sa dalawa Pioneer 819 and Yamaha 365) ang mas preferrable for movies (80%) and music (20%)? Price difference is not big (the Yamaha being more expensive by only PHP 1,500). As expected kasi, sabi ng mga promo guys nila, mas maganda ang kani-kaniyang brand.

are you sure its pioneer 819?  fromwhere i canvassed, yamaha 365 costs about P18500, pioneer 819 costs about P22T-P24T.  if yamaha costs higher by about P1500 campared to pioneer, you're probably referring to pioneer 519 which costs P15990.  but if you're really sure that its pioneer 819, where did you find such unit?  ;D

sadfully, Ive an TSDX-838 Onkyo, it was already been repaired vefore and the reason is "PROTECT" after a year with out even using it, it broke down again, this time No Display, meaning no power, I wonder tis is happening on this model. this is an Intergra model, I feel Im wasting my money for the cost of repair on this model, now I am thinking not to buy an Onkyo brand.

gurus, please enlighten me  :D

Might be an isolated case Sir,

Many proud members of Onkyo here.  T'was also a major consideration when I was looking for a receiver. Sad to hear what you have to spend on reapirs.  Good luck on your next receiver if you do choose to get one :)

Matibay ang Onkyo at sa katunayan yan ang unang receiver ko 10 years ago at hanggang ngayon buhay na buhay pa. Nagkataon lang siguro sir na hindi nakita ng repair shop yong defect kaya nasira ulit.  ;)

Sa SM appliance center davao. They had it on sale back then. Isang unit na lang daw kasi sabi ng salesman.

http://gizmodo.com/5480790/av-receiver-battlemodo-600-or-bust

Guys! gizmodo did a AV receiver review of 4 $600 receivers. Pioneer comes out on top, then Onkyo, followed by Denon, with Yamaha at dead last.

You might want to check out the link above.

Also can somebody tell me where i can buy this particular model ==> Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K

thanks!

I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-81TXV circa 2007 receiver, same league as the Onkyo TX-SR 805 but priced at the level of Onkyo TX-SR875. I agree with the review, Pioneers are good AVRs kaya lang masyadong mahal lalo na Elite models... with it's price mas marami ka ng pagpipilian na maganda ang features.  ;D

Pwede nyong audition sa place ko on how a Pioneer Elite model would sound compared to the more popular brand/s here in RP.  ;D

around 3 years ago when i was looking into buying my first a/v receiver i went to pioneer west ave. the sales guy told me that he would'nt recommend their a/v receivers over yamaha and onkyo and referred me to tayoma west ave.

i guess they've beefed up and improve their a'v receivers over the years!

for me all those top brands are winners!  :)

It might help those looking to upgrade receivers or get one with fully 3D-specs that Pioneer has announced VSX-520-K and VSX-820-K receivers 5.1 receivers.

And the best part?

$229 for the 520 and $299 for the 820  :o :o :o

i'm excited with pioneer's latest AVRs, i just don't know regarding the HDMI 1.4.  i've been looking at the picture of the back of this vsx-520 and saw 4 HDMIs (3 in, 1 out), now i'm wondering where's the 1.4?  i thought the 1.4 plug is smaller in size, yet i see regular sized HDMI ports  ???

1.4 is the specification number of hdmi. before this we are onto hdmi 1.3a,b & c. the 1.4 spec'ed will be the latest and is the one being touted as 3d ready. but i believe the size and shape of the male plug and female socket remains the same. this is the type "a" connector, the small one you are saying is the type "c" connector more commonly seen on dlsr or hd camcorders, but this can also be spec'ed 1.3 or 1.4 (in the future).

you can get it all here:

Hi All,

Need help.  Im really undecided which to get. Pls enlighten me on which is the better one.

I'm only new to this and dont want to spend to much as i will just be using once a week.

Im choosing between denon's 1610 or onkyos's 507.

Planning to use  wharfdale 9.1 and 9cs, plus dynaquest dq 12 which is now branded as Konzert.

For surrounds i will be using old speakers for the meantime and buy whardale floorstanders and use the 9.1 for surrounds.

I will be using it mostly for movies, around 80%-20% or 90%-10% movies vs music.

Also considering after sales service.  pls share your inputs on which will sound better and  will have better features all in all.

Thanks in advance...

you have to set your priorities in trying to compare the two receivers you have mentioned. com paring them wihtout paramteres will be difficult, i.e HDMI inputs, outputs, upscaling, power, build quality, appearance, ease of use, remote controls among others. off course the part that matters most is the sound quality, which can only be determined by auditioning

if i will be the one to respond, being an Onkyo user, I will be biased to onkyo 507 although the lower model may not be able to provide you a very good audio SQ. I was bale to listen to a 1610 and I must say the audio SQ is really good.
