imo, that's the right way of giving a foul to the shooter, as long as it's not a closed fist, intentional and/or a let go situation, let's say a dunk.

Saka nothing to lose kina Belga at Quinahan. Kung gantihan at sikuhin sila sa mukha, walang masisira. Eh kung sikuhin sa mukha si Sakuragi? ^-^

that's the problem I have with these RoS guys. they foul hard kahit dribble lang ginagawa ng kalaban. I remember Belga doing a football tackle against a PG who hasn't even crossed the half court line yet. He lowered his shoulder straight to the guys chest when holding him to prevent a fastbreak was enough. Fouling hard to prevent a basket or a 3pt play is acceptable. But a hard foul on a guy who's not even in a scoring position is just dirty.

Former PBA cager Dennis Espino arrested
By Chris Lagunzad | Yahoo! PH Sports – 16 hours ago

You can run, but you can’t hide.

After eight months of being a fugitive, former PBA star Dennis Espino, who has been accused of illegal detention, was finally nabbed by authorities during an operation in Mabalacat, Pampanga last Thursday.

According to PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) Chief P/Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr., Espino, 38, was caught in his brother’s office in Barangay Tabun, Mabalacat, Pampanga behind a team from the Women and Children Protection Division headed by Chief Inspector Fernando Cunanan Jr.

The arrest warrant, issued by Judge Mary Anne Pardon-Rivera of San Fernando, Pampanga Regional Trial Court branch 46, suggests no bail for Espino.

A prominent figure during the glorious run of University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP in mid-90s, Espino was charged by Mildred Eiman, 20, who served as his personal secretary while running the Northline Farms in Arayat, Pampanga.

According to the sworn statement of Eiman, Espino detained her for at least a month after she failed to pay a debt of P5,000.

Based on several reports, the manhunt took eight months since Espino, cousin of Arayat mayor Luis Espino, managed to move from one place to another.

He reportedly sought refuge in his family's ancestral house in Nepo, Angeles City, aside from hiding in his house at Vista Verde in Cainta, Rizal and also in Baguio City.

Espino was drafted first overall in the 1995 rookie draft by Sta. Lucia and played 14 seasons with the Realtors, helping them to win two titles in the process. He was then traded to Coca-Cola in 2009 and also had a brief stint with Talk ‘N Text, before hanging up his sneakers.

Espino also donned the national colors with the Philippine Centennial Team, which bageed the bronze medal in the 1998 Asian Games held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Great come from behind win by Alaska ;D Down by 15 yata (or more) in the 3rd Quarter, Alaska made a furious 4th Q run to beat Petron.  Abueva nailed the go ahead basket with 1 minute remaining.  Energizing win by the Aces going to the playoffs...

Gotta hand it to Luigi Trillo. He was a mess 'til the middle of the 3rd. He kept Abueva in even after the 2nd foul. That messed up their game plan. He started the 2nd half with Eman and Jazul. The lead ballooned to 21. But when he found his 5, he stuck with it.

He barely used Hontiveros in their past 2 games but he played him the entire 4th tonight. And that paid off when Hontiveros got Lassiter's 6th foul. Abueva was out of control starting the 3rd dahil sa gigil. Luigi pulled him out to settle down. He managed Thoss' minutes, keeping him fresh sa endgame. And I liked that he kept Baguio and Casio in the game most of the time, not pulling them out and destroying their rhythm.

Abueva really is a game changer. And surprisingly, a pretty smart player. He actually knows when to stop unlike his NCAA days.

Barring any injuries to their core, this team could be contenders. Maybe not this conference but in a conference or 2, they'd be up there.

The difference between Alaska and Petron is that Alaska knows who their go-to guy is. And Alaska knows who will handle the ball at the crucial stages of the game. Baguio is their go-to guy while Casio handles the ball for the most part of their possession. On the other hand, Petron, with all their star players, doesn't have a regular go-to guy. At crucial stages of the game, Cabagnot doesn't always handle the ball to set up the play. Lutz, Washington, Yeo, even Miranda spend so much time dribbling the ball that they end up taking a hurried long shot and missing.

Actually they lead 21pts on the 3rd then I already switched channel since seems like Petron is not missing anything.

Then as I try to check the end score, ayun 3pt lead na lang on last 2 minutes of 4th so tutok uli. Sayang di ko nakita
pano hinabol. :)

Must really be a collapse both on offense and defense for Petron. Buti na lang BGSM fan. :)

In about 2 mins, petron started fumbling the ball. Letting them get stolen, missing shots and at one point missed an easy layup. The game was decided during that time as Petron just crumbled and lost their intensity.

One of the best comebacks I've seen ...... (ROS recent comeback win over MER as well).

It was a combination of ALASKA's stifling defense in Q4, ALASKA's good shooting & PETRON playing not to lose ...... combine all of this and you get PETRON's worst loss so far this season.

I almost forgot ...... too much HERO-BALL from Cabagnot.  ;D

Yup, 2 more games tonight, to close out the eliminations ..... to determine the last quarterfinal matchups.

TnT-A21 & SMC-PET are already set, with both TnT & SMC enjoying twice-to-beat advantages.

Pending tonight's outcomes ..... it's likely going to be: ROS-BGK & MER-ALA for the other pair of quarterfinals matchups (Best-of-3).

===========================================================================

SMC-PET should be a great scrap ...... I'm very sure that PETRON would be the last team that Tim Cone wants to face, even with a twice-to-beat advantage.

ROS-BGK & MER-ALA should be good ones as well.

with Meralco's victory over San Mig just now, no matter what the result of the Ginebra-TNT game, it will be a Meralco-Alaska and ROS-Ginebra best-of-three quarterfinals series. those are pretty even match-ups..

RoS dominated Ginebra earlier, 82-65, with Jeff Chan scoring only 1pt. The Chris-Paul (Tiu-Lee) tandem of RoS is impressive. In the other game, Alaska took game 1 vs Meralco, 90-84. Baguio is starting to take over the team. Abueva was in foul trouble and fouled out early in the 4th. Yun lang so far ang nakakapigil sa kanya. The San Mig-Petron game tonight should be interesting. Well, if the real Petron shows up, that is.

Excellent games earlier. TNT eliminated Air21, 105-100. Close game all throughout and vintage performance by Mike Cortez. The guy had 21pts, 18asts and 9rebs. I feel for the guy. He wanted the win so badly and they had a chance if not for a stupid play by Bonbon Custodio.

In the 2nd game, San Mig eliminated Petron as well, in OT, 92-87. Petron had control of the game but a bad fall by Marcio Lassiter sucked the energy out of Petron's game. I agree with what Jason Webb said earlier. The referees should put the players' well-being first before resuming play. Marcio was clearly limping during that dead ball situation but the ref didn't even stop to ask if he was fine. Inbound kaagad so Marcio had to run to get to his man. He jumped and didn't have the chance to check where and how he would land kasi naghahabol na nga. That was a scary fall and the sight of him being taken out on a stretcher was not good. I'm really hoping he's fine and it's nothing serious.

Anyway, one good thing came out for Petron in that game. Junemar Fajardo is scary, if he's given the touches. Kahit apat na nakabantay sa kanya, kaya pa umiskor. Malakas, magaling mag-seal, maganda footwork at matalino maglaro. I don't know why it took Petron so long to make him the no.1 option on offense.

Goes to show that being a good PG doesn't make you a good head coach, farther down the road.

PETRON's Racela is miles away from competing with coaches like Cone, Guiao, etc.

It took a do-or-die game for Racela to finally run plays for behemoth Fajardo ...... once more, PETRON looked clueless running plays during crunch time.

Loverboy Eala better get a dominant import for PETRON, else they'll replicate their poor record in the next two conferences.

===========================================================

That Lassiter fall was scary ..... shades of the Tejada incident from long ago. Hope he recovers well and soon.

Experience-wise, ang layo naman ni Cone and Guiao kay Racela.  It's an unfair comparison.

Hence, I had used the word "competing" bro ..... it's one thing to beat Cone & Guiao, but to hang with them and make it competitive from a technical standpoint, is another thing (lesser) altogether.

Franz Pumaren's losses during his rookie year as head-coach can be attributed more to an extremely poor lineup than his coaching skills.

Pumaren got a marginally better lineup this year ..... the results are clear - his teams will compete and will have the gameplan to execute during crunch time.

Racela is way too raw ...... not unlike Tanquincen, Pumaren, Agustin, etc when they got their first stint as head coaches.
