TnT would be the safe bet in the upcoming semis against BGK ..... moreso that key people (Alapag, Reyes, Dillinger, Castro, Peek, etc) have recovered from injury and Ranidel has awoken from his scoring slump.

Norman Black is one of the best in making defensive schemes for certain players, he'll have something cooked up for Macklin (again).

That being said, it'll be fun to watch BGK attempt to overcome the odds again ...... like I said, BGK has much better & faster movement and player rotation - all because of Caguioa's injury.

Imagine an ALASKA-BGK Finals series ...... Their last elims match drew 15k+ paying fans, a Finals series would be absolute blockbuster.

Not yet. They're still waiting for an opponent for the other semis series, either Meralco or San Mig Coffee.

Yes TnT is the stronger team but for sure Ginebra will give a good fight. Star studed din naman ang TnT like Petron. Imagine almost half of the Philippine team is composed of TnT players... Nonetheless don't count Ginebra out of the game yet ;D

Ginebra - Alaska - tiba-tiba

this will be a good series. norman black has found an effective antidote to Macklin. i'm sure Ginebra will find an antidote of their own to set macklin free again.

It's the Ginebra locals who need to show up every game. So far, it's now you see me, now you don't for them.

The locals of TNT have found their groove. Castro's moving better. Ranidel is shooting better. Ryan Reyes has become more aggressive on offense. Peek is back. Rabeh has slowly gotten his confidence back. They're looking more dangerous by the day. And their import isn't even a factor yet.

Ginebra has to make sure that everyone contributes. They need more from their vets Jayjay, Kerby and Hatfield. Di kaya ni Tenorio mag-isa. Caguioa could come back but they can't expect him to put up the same numbers he did right away. He'll be rusty. Kung aasa lang sila kay Macklin, they'll be swept by TNT.

The semis is just a best-of-5 so di pwedeng mag-relax ng kahit isang game.

TnT is not yet at full force. Williams is still not around. Fonacier is still in a slump. Dillinger's game has gone down. Ginebra has got to ride the momentum of beating RoS and win first. It's difficult enough to beat TnT when they are not playing well. It would be much more difficult to beat them when they have the momentum.

As expected, SMC goes through the semis, over MERALCO ......

I see the improvement in Chris Ross' game ...... quick hands in the passing lanes & better recognition of teammates in scoring range. However, Ross just isn't lead PG material - extremely shaky perimeter shot, has two left hands when attempting layups, etc ..... indicative of a non-scorer.

Remember that Ross was drafted & quickly traded (for an ancient Paolo Mendoza) by an inept coach in Bo Perasol ...... which tells you a lot about both Ross & Perasol.  ;D

=========================================================

ALASKA-SMC ....... this will be a great series. However, without a shadow of a doubt, expect some "favorable" calls for SMC from the refs, during crucial moments..... hope I'm wrong though.

I can't ever recall a high-profile matchup wherein SMC / BMEG didn't get the homecourt treatment from the refs ........ there's a long-standing joke among the PBA Filam community, that the reason that J.Yap's team always gets the refs calls, is due to Kris Aquino.  ;D

And it used to be Alvin Patrimonio's Purefoods team which got the favorable calls from the referee.  ;) >:D :P

Yup, those PFOODS teams got more than their fair share of favorable calls from the refs ...... same as those Uichico/Jacobs SMB teams.

I've been following the PBA since the early 80's (for the longest time, live ..... hooray for compliementary season passes) ........ Have to say that these James Yap teams really takes the cake as far as hometown cooking is concerned.

I'm expecting a great series from the entire semis cast  ..... hoping that Salud gets proactive (and not reactive) when it comes to officiating these semis.

Suspending a referee after bad/missed calls can't change that win-loss record.

One more thing ...... To the REFS: Bawal banggain nang sino man sa opposing team, ang taong nag a-attempt nang freethrow ha.  ;D

semis begins today. interesting match-ups.

alaska against sanmig coffee mixers, with alaska winless against the tim cone-led sanmig coffee mixers  this season.

depleted ginebra against heavily favored talk and text.

Ginebra is manhandling TNT right now. Led by 28 at one point. Still up 18 less than 3mins in the 3rd.

one game lang pala ngayon, bukas pa pala ung isa.

it was a great game by ginebra. after getting a 2-0 lead, TnT trailed all the way. great adjustment by the gins. however, they still are the underdogs in this series. man-to-man, TnT is still the stronger team. i'm sure TnT will make some major adjustments for the crucial game 2, which promises to be a tough one.

baracael started the barrage of points. it picked up from there. this is the first significant game of urbiztondo since he transferred to ginebra. still not impressed with him, though. i think he only had one shot inside the three point arc. the rest were from the three point area.

As long as TnT's outside shots do not go in, Ginebra would have a very good chance of winning this series.

smc takes the first game. it was close all through out. bowles once again showed why he was the best import, scoring the last 3 baskets for smc. akala ko mag ot pa eh
