Wow ..... defense, Abueva and some luck got the clincher for ALASKA tonight.

Their defense in the 2nd half was tight (barring the refs of course) ...... Simon and the other locals hardly scored. It was only Bowles and the countless "manipis" calls going his way that

That 3-pointer from Dozier was just plain luck ...... basically won the game for ALASKA.  :D

Abueva has always been a double-edged sword - can hurt his team, yet can also do great things for them.

Antics aside, he has shown great strides in his game maturity ...... ALASKA is the right team for him - playing time, plus many veterans at both his ears.

=========================================================================

One half of my dream series is accomplished ..... a BGK win tomorrow will be a DREAM series for the PBA.

Like I said, an ALASKA-BGK Finals series would be absolute blockbuster.

This Alaska victory should be a lesson to Noli Eala and SMC. This is how you build a team that could challenge for championships. You get players for what they can bring to your team not for the name at the back of their jerseys. All those trades and coaching changes and all they have to show for it so far is one controversial championship. Gusto instant success eh. Alaska just showed that good things really do come to those who wait.

I've got to hand it to Luigi Trillo. Grabe tiwala niya sa players niya. He risked Casio, Thoss and Abueva in there even with foul trouble in the 1st half. Same goes for Dozier. He never put pressure on his import to score. He just let Dozier do his thing on defense.

Ibang klase rin talaga si Abueva. Game changer. A good showing in the first 2 games of the Finals and he'll win BPC. He could really contend for the MVP now.

I don't really care sino makalaban ng Alaska sa Finals. If they play just as hard a they did in this series, they'll go all the way.

Di naman halos napapalitan ang nucleus ng SanMig Coffee ah. Ang active sa trades at collection ng superstars with no chemistry eh Petron.

By SMC, I meant the San Miguel Corporation not the San Mig Coffee team.

With the way the big men of Alaska defended Bowles whenever he tried to get inside the paint, and the way the referees allowed all the clinging, holding, knee-ing, hugging, squeezing, pushing, pulling on Bowles as long as he wasn't holding the ball, it's no wonder Bowles could only get the ball on the outside where he was less effective.

Beg to differ bro ...... SMC/BMEG is not as active as PETRON or BGK in the star-collecting scene - but they have more than their fair share of lopsides sale este trades (courtesy of SMCorp lapdog Bert Lina of course).

The only reason that they're not as active, is because of Tim Cone ....... the man knows how to build team chemistry and balance; but he's not complaining about the player-buying either.  ;D

** Devance - Had asked to be traded from ALASKA, despite receiving max money & was running fourth in the MVP race. He was promptly traded to AIR21 who "mysteriously" trades him to BMEG a few weeks later.

** Pingris - Twice a member of AIR21/FEDEX and twice was traded to an SMCorp team.

** Barroca - The draft pick used on him belonged to AIR21 ...... a behind-the-scenes discussion with Comm. Cheato Salud and voila, the draft pick suddenly became BMEG's.

Sidenote: Then incoming SHOPINAS coach Franz Pumaren wanted to draft Barroca badly ...... but was very surprised when their pick was "transferred" to BMEG the very last minute prior to the rookie draft.

Franz Pumaren got waylaid by the very same benefactors that he benefited from in the collegiate level ..... ironic yes?  ;)

** Urbiztondo - He was the lead PG for AIR21 two years ago ..... despite this, Urbiztondo was mysteriously relegated to the reserved list then was promptly signed by BMEG.

It was the very first time in PBA history that a team's lead PG was relegated to the reserved list.

When this happened, some other PBA teams howled in protest ...... among them was then ALASKA coach Tim Cone.  ;D

Sidenote: Tim Cone won a championship with Urbiztondo playing a big role for SMC ...... a few conferences later, he trades Urbiztondo back to AIR21 in exchange for AIR21's 2013-2014 1st round draft pick ...... got someone for nothing, then trades him back for a high draft pick - unethical yes?  ;)

Tim Cone howls in protest when he was with ALASKA ..... then makes this unethical trade when he's with SMC - hypocrisy yes?  ;)

** Mallari - The draft pick used on him belonged to AIR21 .... which was traded away to PETRON of course.

Asawa na actually. Barroca did really well, in my opinion. His defense on Casio was great the entire series. Hirap makapag-orchestrate si Casio. Mallari is too offensive minded. Walang depensa. Kahapon, iniiwan lang siya ni Casio.

Barroca was the most consistent local for SanMig in that series. Kung wala si Barroca, malamang na-sweep yung SanMig.

Effin' refs spoiling games once again ........ EXTREMELY CLEAR flagrant foul on Macklin, for hitting Aban on the neck - yet was only called for a regular foul ?!

Review the tapes ...... the refs might have glanced at Comm. Cheato Salud before making the decision.  ;)

The look on Norman Black's face was priceless.

Some very influential people can't accept the fact that not even one of 3-ultra-loaded, salary-cap exceeding, player-hoarding teams can reach even the PBA Finals this season ..... wink-wink na lang agad sa mga refs.  ;)

I'm rooting for a BGK-ALASKA Finals, but the refs should have called a flagrant-foul on Macklin and threw him out the game (2nd tech).
