Some very influential people can't accept the fact that not even one of 3-ultra-loaded, salary-cap exceeding, player-hoarding teams can reach even the PBA Finals this season ..... wink-wink na lang agad sa mga refs.  ;)

I'm rooting for a BGK-ALASKA Finals, but the refs should have called a flagrant-foul on Macklin and threw him out the game (2nd tech).

ginagawa ata akong tanga ng ref nor ng pba..hindi nan ako bitter but i played bball and seeing the series like this...flagrant foul was not called? Hahaha...kakatawa ..for sure that call will be questioned

If it was Yeng Guiao on the receiving end of the refs blatant calls tonight, he would have shouted his classic line when facing SMCorp teams and their army of refs ........ "MGA SINDIKATO !!!"

So it's now an ALASKA-BGK Finals series.

Like I said, this one will be epic ..... because it has a resurgent BGK, it has a resurgent ALASKA, it has tons of storylines both on the court and the sidelines ...... plus it has the BEAST.

The only possible downside - it's just a Best-of-5 series ..... WTF Comm. Cheato Salud ?

This upcoming Finals will be epic ...... my only hope is that it's called fair by the refs (always hard to expect this when an SMCorp team plays).

========================================================================

If I were Trillo, I would borrow a page out of Yeng Guiao's tactics ...... I'd call a press-conference and plead for fair officiating even before Game 1 is played.

Yeng Guiao did this before with RED BULL, prior to the 2001 Finals series against SMB.

Lo and behold, that series was called straight and fair ...... then SMB star Danny Seigle was surprised that the ticky-tacky fouls that he always enjoyed weren't being called anymore.

I'm a Ginebra fan but I agree that it should be a flagrant foul on Macklin taking down Aban.
But lets not take away the credit to Ginebra especially sa locals. They really played well tonight. Nung 3rd quarter nga ang aga napenalty ng Ginebra... Masyado lang nag rely ang TnT sa import nila, forcing his shots in the 4th. Dapat ginamit din nilang option si Castro... Dami ding maling calls when TnT's got the ball like yung foul kay Helterbrand against the 3-point shooting Fonacier nung patapos na ang 4th Q.

Ginebra rocks! Macklin did not intentionally bring down abad, it was a battle of position. Abad was pushing macklin with his forearm and macklin simply put aban out of the way. Just so happened the mack's hands were on aban's face but ref's called it fairly as it was not intentional. Did you all know the mack was hit numerous times by ranidel and ryan reyes in game 4? Was not seen on camera but mack was hit at the groin and was punch at the stomach twice and yet he did not retaliate then.  Game 5 was a blast, almost like championships!

Hehe, pre naman ..... not intentional? Macklin was angrily glaring at Aban after the hit on his neck for chrissakes.  ;D

It was clear as day that it was intentional ...... very likely retaliatory (from past hits), but still intentional and flagrant.

Even Macklin's reaction afterwards was one of "Uh-oh, I might have cost us this game with that flare-up" ..... the look on BGK's coaching staff was one of detest/dread rather than complaining.

You'll be even hard-pressed to find one BGK fan in the other basketball forums not admitting that it was a flagrant foul ....... everyone there admits that it was flagrant and everyone blames Macklin for being hot-headed in this series.

===========================================================================

Barring the refs calls, BGK's entire crew showed the fight and resolve that was lacking from the past few seasons ...... tons of credit to Alfrancis Chua as well.

On to the Finals ...... what a great series it promises to be.

Looks worse than it actually is. Hands on face does not mean flagrant foul. What if the hands were on aban's shoulders, I bet fans of tnt would not have reacted the way they did. It was unintentional and was a battle of position. Refs did not call flagrant also due to mack's nature of not being a dirty player. I guess even now that refs did not call flagrant on ryan reyes when he punched mack on the stomach twice in game 4.

I pity tnt as what killed them is their import. Typical ball hogger. Always complaining of non calls even if it was a forced shot and good honest defense. He's a one man team which won't win games as crucial as game 5.

Yup I'm sure na may mali dun sa tawag kay Macklin pero sa nilaro ni Tenorio, Helterbrand at Baracael hindi sana maging basis yung non-FF1 call kay Macklin sa naging outcome... ;)
Ginebra fought hard sa series na yan...

Fanboi ako ng Ginebra sis since grade school nung panahon pa nila Jawo, Loyzaga, Ampalayo, Joe Ward, Gonzalgo, Cuenco, etc... Hehehe ;D

If it was anything like the Jawo "phantom punch" on Jolas' after Jolas undercut Jawo, then it would have been shown on replays. But no video has been shown to show that Reyes did punch Macklin on the stomach twice. It was only Chua who claimed that Macklin was punched.

If tnt stuck with jordan, mack would not have had a feast inside, same with tenorio who slashed to the paint. I guess wrong move on tnt's part. With the new import, locals were not involed much as often as they should have been. I can just imagine what the next conference would be for tnt if they will stick with their import.

Bro, is this the same crispy pata which was featured on TV (GMA7?) some years back ?

If it's the same one, a friend of mine raves about it all the time ...... he makes the trip all the way from Sto. Tomas, Batangas just to buy a couple of patas.  ;)

=========================================================================

On-topic, many great storylines surrounding the Finals series.

Trillo-Chua, who'll win their 1st 'chip, LA/Baracael vs. their old team, Hatfield facing off against a younger & meaner version of himself, Caguioa's possible comeback, the Beast's impending BPC win & potential coming-out party as a superstar, etc.

If the 1st Conference voting is any indication, I think Tenorio's going to win it. Abueva's going to get killed in media and player votes. But I have no problems with that. Tenorio deserves it as well.

Yup, it's very clear that it's an Abueva-Tenorio 2-way race for BPC.

However, stats-wise Abueva has just been better, cumulatively ..... we've seen more than a few games wherein Tenorio can hardly make shots (he himself has admitted a few times, that his bum elbow is still bothering him) ...... the few times that Abueva scores low, he's still rebounding with ease.

I completely agree about the huge possibility of Abueva being jobbed by the media & SMCorp bloc voters ....... but for some reason, I'm getting the feeling that Abueva will change a few biased hearts out there - he's infected the watching public in way that hasn't been seen in a long while.
