Tinanong nun commentator doon sa kasama nyang commentator, what happened daw to Ginebra in the 4th qrt, kasi lumaki na lamang ng Alaska, eh at the end of 3rd qrt lamang pa daw ng 1 pt BGK, ang sabi ni Jason Webb ata yun "it's a combination of a lot of things daw, blah, blah, blah, pero actually isa lang ang sagot dun "Urbiztondo". Walang sure ball, tapos nagkalat pa, dami ginawa kapalpakan. Sana binabad na lang si Tenorio, hindi na kailangan magpahinga do or die na yun eh.

No match talaga 'yun laban, sa tingin ko kahit TNT ang pumasok instead of BKG, ganoon din mangyayare, they will suffer the same fate as Ginebra, puro injured din kasi players nila.

Congrats Alaska!

I remember one coach yelling to his team during a time out, "Artadi is on our side, guys!" Take note, nasa opposing team si Artadi.

Ganun din si Urbiztondo haha!

^ Nice observation bro newwave, I remember when tanduay pulled out their team sa pba, I think it was their team manager who said pba is a pure smc league.. So now, its 6 from smc, and 2 from mvp.. ROS and Alaska na lng.. Maganda kung sila naglaban sa finals.. :)

It was team owner Bong Tan himself who declared the PBA as an SMC-league.

People might now know this, but Tan commissioned a 3rd party observation on PBA officiating ...... it was done by officials from the GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS.

The officials concluded that the refs indeed favor SMC teams ...... imagine that, an NBA team no less.  ;)

Of course, Tan himself was no saint ...... seeing the unethical practices of SMC, he himself resorted to his own brand of under-the-table deals just to compete.

It went all downhill for him, when Alvarado was revealed as a Filsham ....... then the botched Ildefonso deal ...... finally to the double-contracts of Hawkins, etc.

With so much disgust, he traded his stars to SMC teams then folded his franchise.

There are reports that Loverboy Eala is targeting ROS import Arizona Reid as their 3rd conference import ......

for which team? i think it would not be for Ginebra. as early as the first week (iirc) of this month, loverboy already had a statement that Ginebra's import for the third conference will be Dior Lowhorn, said to be a standout in the ABL.

ALASKA's new import is a scorer ....... definitely not in the mold of rebounding demons like Blakely, Reid & Cornley. They got a similar import a few years ago, LD Williams ..... didn't turn out so well.

Anthony Grundy will be a boost to PETRON - an import who does a lot of things very well ........ GPORT's Mark Yee will welcome Grundy with a one arm cavity search.  ;D

No love for Nate Brumfeld from any team?

About Urbiztondo: he was actually playing well before he got traded..he played well for B-Meg (starter) and for Barako too..
Problem kay Urbiztondo is he is a "system" type of PG...hindi sya marunong mshado magadapt...and playing lesser minutes for GSM compared to his former team made it worse...
So i kind of disagree that he is a "bad" player but i agree the trade for him was a head-scratcher

Rossel Ellis suddenly got old during his last stint in the PBA ....... during his heyday, Ellis was fun to watch.

The man had a nose for the ball and relied on his work ethic, since he was limited offensively.

Tim Cone has been quoted many times that Ellis is one of his favorite imports, along with Chambers, Davis, etc.

If the basis for playing well is merely scoring in double digits by making some 3-point shots despite the low field goal percentage, then Urbiztondo was definitely playing well before he got traded to Ginebra. The problem with Urbiztondo is not that he is a "system" type of PG nor that he doesn't adapt that well, the problem with Urbiztondo is that the only thing he knows is to shoot but he does not do it well.

Hi Sir...checked the stats..he is not the most efficient player as he shoots below 40% from the field..but he averaged almost 11 pts and 5 assists per game..for a role player..i can say that is kinda playing well before the trade

If you compare him to Tenorio..LA is +2 in ppg..almost the same in assists and turnovers..and shoots worse than Urbiztondo...

the problem with Urbiztondo is that the only thing he knows is to shoot but he does not do it well.

no offense meant, sir. but allow me to modify your post and say that "the problem with urbiztondo is that the only thing he know is to THROW the ball but he does not shoot well.

11 points average. that's roughly three 3 point shots and a field goal every game---in short, four attempts. Urbiztondo takes more attempts than that. waaayyyyy more than that. the average points made does not make one an efficient player. a scorer perhaps. but not efficient. and a 40% shooting clip is definitely not efficient. PLUS he is not a play maker, he has no other moves (except to shoot from beyond the arc), he does not know how to pass well, he does not make his teammates involved in the plays.

Haha ok lng sir..mganda pagdebatehan tlaga sports..healthy naman...anyway...all i'm saying is he played "well" in Barako. I'm not saying he is efficient..as i have mentioned in my post...But for a role player, those are decent stats...he is a shoot first PG...but to say he doesnt pass well is kind of unfair to say since he averaged almost 5 assists per game. League leader last conf was at 6.xx apg. And comparing him to an elite PG like Tenorio last conf, their stats (ppg, apg,fg%,to) are almost the same..the big difference is that Tenorio is a better leader which is kind of expected of him since he is a superstar in the league..while Urbiztondo is not..

he is a shoot first PG

he is more of a catch-and-shoot pointguard.......pagka-tanggap ng bola, tira agad.  :P

-0-0-0-0-0-0-
here is the format for the 3rd conference:

PBA Govs Cup Aug 14, single-round elims then last
2 out; top 4 2x-to-beat edge over next 4, winners
in best-of-5 semis then best-of-7 finals

To think that BGK had Mike Cortez in their lineup just a conference ago ....... now, all they have to backup LA is effin' Urbiztondo & Labagala.  ;D

This is what separates the "legit" champion teams of ALASKA & ROS versus the fantasy-trade teams of Loverboy Eala ...... GM's like Trillo & Jao know the kind of players they"ll need to build a contender from the ground up - all along, they play within the salary cap rules of the league.

On the flip side, Loverboy Eala is like a kid who was left alone in the kitchen ...... he will eat & get all that he can without thinking of the consequences.

Eala has been given unlimited funds & he doesn't even follow salary cap rules. He even has 3 farm teams to supply his 3 main teams with draft picks and bluechip players with.

And to top it all off, Eala has no basketball background whatsoever, other than being a commentator ...... Eala is clear proof that gift of gab can get you places here in Da Pilipins.

exactly. they traded mike cortez because, according to them, they were loaded with guards. then, they acquired urbiztondo. the worst part is they let go of keith jensen AND a 2nd round draft pick! as i've said, the trade was very lopsided, with ginebra getting the raw end of the deal. i am of the view that urbiztondo does not carry such a high price tag.

Here we go again ..... another impending Loverboy Eala fantasy trade.

Eala trying to revive their trade proposal ...... BGK's Yousef Taha, Elmer Espiritu & Rob Labagala for GLOBAL PORT's Japeth Aguilar & Willie Miller.

Three (3) benchwarmers for a National Team member & a still serviceable starting SG ..... fair na fair, right Comm Salud ??  ;D ;D

Eala claims that BGK needs bigs, after being manhandled by ALASKA's Thoss ...... well it proves my point once more, about Eala's limited knowledge about the sport.

Having a tall player doesn't guarantee you a center ...... Aguilar is near 7-feet, but he plays like a SF - a position which BGK has in abundance - heck, they got rid of Canaleta, Maliksi, Jensen, etc since they're already loaded with Ellis, Espiritu, Wilson, Ababou, Baracael, Hatfield, Maierhofer, etc sharing limited minutes.

i really don't understand eala's craving for aguilar. yes, he is tall. but that's all he has. look at where aguilar brought globalport? on the top of the standings.....IF you count the losses. also, if ever ginebra trades a small, they should trade urbiztondo instead. i would prefer labagala over urbiztondo.

as alaska fan. bring it on eala.  hehehe.  grabe kahit simpleng fan nakikita na ano mali. pero banat pa rin.  bat kaya yung higher management e hinahayaan din lang? di rin ba nila nakikita?
