Junemar Fajardo is starting to show what he's capable of. Instead of losing confidence after a dismal performance in the FIBA-Asia, Fajardo has been showing how good he can be if given the chance to do so. He's been very impressive this conference and just played his best game tonight. If he keeps this up and his coaches continue to feature him, he'll dominate the league. May skills talaga eh. Maganda footwork and has a decent mid-range game. Gumaganda na rin depensa niya.

His emergence, a healthy Lassiter and an unselfish import in Millsap are the reasons why Petron is on a 10-game winning streak and is the favorite to win the championship.

i just hope junemar would improve his toughness on the defensive end. offensively he should be able to develop more power and add semi hooks to his arsenal. dunk the ball more often junemar!

Dunking is easier said than done, moreso for most of the bigs ...... they may be tall, but they have limited hops and relatively slow on the gather.

Besides, Junemar borders a bit more on finesse rather than power - has always been even during his collegiate days ...... that kind of shooting touch is rare for guys that big.

Not to say that he lacks in strength, he is very strong ...... but his strength lies in the space that he occupies and his weight. He doesn't even have to throw his weight around, just his sheer size alone can create scoring spots for himself.

As for defense, he's coming along slowly ...... which isn't much of a problem (yet) since most defenses nowadays are team-based e.g. zones, high-traps, quick rotations, switches, etc.

yes he got limited hops. regarding strength, it was already beau belga who said from their last game that it is very difficult now to guard junemar because of his sheer size and power, no question his offense is now very fluid.

from an inside source at the gilas NZ camp, it was actually junemar who almost got booted out from the fiba asia final 12 and the coaching staff are in unison that his achiles heel was his defense. and it showed in the recent manila tournament. i was worried then that he will lose his confidence and stagnate his growth.

now that he is getting the minutes i am glad that he is performing well. many people are very happy for him and at long last he is becoming the kraken the fans percieve him to be.

but i wont call him the kraken yet not unless i see him monstrously block shots and taking the ball stronger up to the hoop and smash it in! ;D ;D

what a solid game by mallari, he and barroca was very steady until the end. bad news for meralco if west cant play next game.

Ginebra got the first pick followed by San Mig. Who will be the no.1 pick? Slaughter or SangalanG?

A couple more years under Danny Ildefonso at Petron and Norman Black at Gilas and we'll be seeing more of this from Junemar Fajardo. I don't think I've seen a pinoy player as big as Junemar dunk like that.

So, BGK wins the draft lottery ...... technically, AIR21 won the draft it since it's a perennial loser.

However, this is Comm. Cheato Salud's PBA where SMCorp controls 3 elite teams and 3 farm teams, thus the 1st overall pick belongs to BGK.

As for the 2nd pick? ...... it should have been GLOBALPORT's, but it's long been guaranteed to an elite team as well in SAN MIG COFFEE.

See how the PBA works ..... it's been that way for many, many years now.  ;)

===============================================================================

Sangalang or Slaughter for BGK?

It doesn't really matter who BGK picks, since the ball almost always end up with Mark Caguioa.

I've long said that Mark Caguioa is the one who makes and breaks BGK ....... he's all heart and plays hard - yet his style of play was never one to promote ball movement and sharing. To be fair to Caguioa, he has adjusted somewhat, but it's too little too late.

Should BGK pick Sangalang (as what news reports indicate), I can guarantee that SMC's Tim Cone will be the most happiest dude come draft night.

Tim Cone has always pined for a decent traditional big to anchor his triangle ..... someone he can mold to play the role that Poch Juinio and Sonny Thoss played on 13 championships with ALASKA ....... someone with decent post skills, nice stroke and more importantly, tall enough to see the triangle movement and make that pass that gets them the best shot.

Greg Slaughter has been in Tim Cone's crosshairs for years now.

Meralco just blew up the team that made it to the semis. They had another trade. Si Franz Pumaren naman, tuloy pa rin ang pagkuha sa mga dating La Salle players niya. Air21 just got Cardona. Si Al-Hussaini at Baclao naman, palipat-lipat lang.

TnT got Rob Reyes, Baclao, Salamat and Air 21's 2nd round rookie draft pick in 2015. They lost Husseini, Raymundo and Gamalinda.

Air 21 got Cardona, Raymundo and Gamalinda. They lost Reyes, Omolon, Salamat, and a 2nd round rookie draft pick in 2015.

Meralco got Husseini and Omolon. They lost Cardona and Baclao.

Who's the winner here?

It's a breath of very rare fresh air when you see a PBA trade which isn't lopsided ....... I'd say that this was a relatively fair trade for all parties - even the salaries seem to even out.

It's no coincidence that SMCorp wasn't involved in this fair trade, right?

** MERALCO is shallow at the post, heck their top post guy is an aged, yet still effective Hugnatan ...... Hussaini & Omolon will bring a very slight upgrade.

Besides, Cardona has been "loony" for the past few seasons now - a reunion with his old coach could bring him back to his senses ....... matagal nang basang-basa ang signature drive-to-the-left-then-spin-right-hook-shot niya eh. Franz Pumaren is decent enough to recognize this ...... Ryan Gregorio will forever be inept and should immediately be elevated as MERALCO spokesperson.

** TnT has always valued cohesion ...... Rob Reyes goes back to his rookie team, while Black gets his old mates Baclao & Salamat back.

It's a good thing that they still have Alapag & Castro ...... an Eric Salamat & Jai Reyes backcourt doesn't exactly strike fear to the other teams.  ;)

** Franz Pumaren continues with his DLSU nostalgia tour ....... I cant blame him though, it's the only thing that he can and is allowed to do by Pimp-Daddies Bert Lina & Lito Alvarez.

Prime blue-chip players are for their SMCorp masters only.

Like I've said, you'll find a picture of Franz Pumaren in the dictionary, under the word IRONY ...... the corrupt padrinos that helped him in UAAP, are the same ones who work against him in the PBA.  ;)

Effin wow !!!  ..... Gamalinda, Pamboy, Menor & Arboleda in one team?!! Si Tubid na lang ang kulang and it's a lawsuit waiting to happen !!!

EJ had his best days under Jaworski. doon sya na-develop ng husto. and if i remember correctly, he and Marlou Aquino were the special assignments of Philip Cezar.

At San Mig, Slaughter would have Patrimonio to teach him aside from the current bigs, Devance, Pingris, Reavis and Yancy De Ocampo.  He would have no one to learn from at Ginebra.

1998 sya naging part ng national team. at that time, nasa purefoods sya. after that, he went back to ginebra (then known as gordon's gin boars and won a championship with the team). 2002 sya naglaro for alaska.

and basing from this --

http://www.pba-online.net/profile/EJ-Feihl/329/

he had better numbers with ginebra.

The Annual Awards will be tomorrow. It looks like Arwind Santos will bag the MVP. Abueva is already out of the running for the MVP. Santos, Castro and Tenorio na lang ang maglalaban. Unless bigyan ng consideration ng voters yung Gilas campaign nina Castro at Tenorio, Arwind will win his 1st MVP award.

Sa ROY naman, humahabol na si Fajardo. His performance this conference, especially in the Finals, has really bolstered his campaign for the ROY award. I wouldn't even be surprised if he wins it lalo na at maraming galit kay Abueva.

Arwind Santos it is. May MVP na rin siya. It was the closest MVP race ever, though. Santos had a total of 2840 and Tenorio had 2819. Abueva naman won the ROY. And for the first time in years, I agree with the Mythical First Team choices. Santos, Abueva, Ranidel De Ocampo, Tenorio and Castro. Those guys really played the best this season.

Punta naman tayong draft. Lots interesting names in the pool now that the deadline has passed. Jeric Teng has joined. Romeo decided to forgo his last year with FEU to join. Kasama uli niya si RR Garcia. Atenoeo's Nico Salva, Ryan Buenafe and JP Erram have joined as well. Pati si LA Revilla ng La Salle humabol na rin. The top 3 picks are most likely going to be Slaughter, Sangalang and Almazan.

napaka uncharacteristic ng nilaro nung petron last time. next game pag yung san mig naman ang naging ganun e alam na talaga.
