This series is seriously unbelievable. Napaka-obvious naman ng ginagawa nila. Petron has been consistently blowing past it's opponents this conference. They've won games by an average of 14pts. They just massacred San Mig in Game 3 nung Wednesday, winning by 22pts. Tapos ngayon they're down 23pts at the half?

Petron's starting point guard, Cabagnot is out with an injury,. His reliever, Lanete is still recovering from an injury. Miranda has not been given much playing time under Abanilla. Hubalde is good for a few minutes mostly at scrub time. It is understandable if they played without cohesion during the first half.

Petron has not won a championship with these group of players. I doubt they would play around with their chances since San Mig is a very dangerous opponent. Abanilla is a rookie head coach. If he wants to stay as head coach then he must win the championship or else suffer the same fate as Racela. May pride din naman ang players. If there are machinations going on, it would probably be with the referees.

Petron played without Cabagnot in Game 3 and they demolished San Mig by 22 points. They led all game. Millsap started at point guard then Miranda and Hubalde took turns after. Lanete didn't even play in that game yet they never had problems running their plays. So clearly, the absence of Cabagnot isn't that much of a factor. Even that Game 4 last night showed that the loss of Cabagnot really doesn't matter much. Nahabol agad nila yung lamang 3rd Quarter pa lang. Lumamang pa nga sila. They're clearly the better team so there's no reason for them to be down so big.

And in a Finals game, no one bothered to remind Petron players that they still had a timeout left when Mallari was taking a free throw with 3 seconds left?

Milsap starting at point took San Mig by surprise, which resulted in the game 3 blow-out. Tim Cone made some  adjustments and these definitely affected Petron's play during the 1st quarter. Petron is definitely the better team, thus they were able to regroup and come back from a big deficit. It is just a matter of one team making adjustments and the other team making their own adjustments. To insinuate that these players and coaches are involved in a conspiracy to extend the series to a game 7, imho, has no basis, sister teams or not. A lot of players and coaches from both teams would have to be involved. Now if it is the referees we are talking about, then it is a different matter. ;)

There is no massive conspiracy to rig games, like what was seen during the 80's .... but it's clear that there the rigging has evolved into other forms.

Before, it was pretty much gambling which had players rigging some games.

Nowadays, it's corporate one-upmanship driving some team officials to "convince" some refs to favor certain teams ...... not to mention teams winning/losing for the sake of sister teams (both conglomerates are guilty) placing ...... it's selective, but its still there.

The mere fact alone that there are 3 teams under one corporation is grounds enough to suspect some form of manipulation - not to mention these 3 teams hoard blue-chip players and share them amongst themselves. Oh, and these 3 teams use farm teams as well.

If some teams blatantly rig the draft (there are many ways this is being done right now), maintain farm teams, maintain ULTRA-loaded teams and still claim to be under-the-salary-cap ....... it's not far-fetched that they rig results of some games, right?

I had a friend who is a cousin to the No.2 guy of arguably the most glamorous team ever seen in the PBA ....... my friend always relays No.2's betting tips PRIOR to an important game (semis, Finals, etc) and he was always spot on.

When No.2 says not to bet on his team for a particular game, he was always right.

=============================================================================

The upcoming PBA draft is obviously deep, but it's not top-heavy like the 2011 draft. There are many good role-role-players which can be had from the 2nd round e.g. Vidal, Melton, Fortuna, etc.

Seriously, Comm. Cheato Salud should convince his SMC masters to allow league expansion (2 more teams) ...... there will never be a shortage of talent for any local basketball league, the PBA included.

OT: Pinoy Hoops premiered last night on National Geographic. It's a very entertaining documentary (3 parts) on the Philippines' obsession with basketball, hosted by Rafe Bartholomew (Pacific Rims). Must see TV if you're a basketball nut. Mondays, 9PM.

Honestly, it's a very good trade for BGK ....... losing Kerby frees up minutes for Japeth, Maierhofer & whoever BGK picks between Sangalang & Slaughter.

For all his talents, all hope of ball movement and passing is lost when Kerby has the ball ....... patay palagi ang bola kay Kerby. He needs the ball for a long time to get his points.

Getting the inept JR Reyes is just trade-filler and insurance, in case Maierhoffer gets injured again.

==========================================================================

Kerby Raymundo going to MERALCO validates yet again what a fraud coach Ryan Gregorio is.

Ryan Gregorio has no long-term plan and just gets players left & right every conference, hoping to hit the jackpot.

For such a young franchise, MERALCO has been blessed with many quality players e.g. Cardona, Mercado, Taulava, Buenafe, Hugnatan, Ross, Belga, Omolon, Isip, Ritualo, Borboran, Macapagal, Lanete, etc. yet no success.

I think Ginebra would and should pick Greg Slaughter as No. 1 overall. It's because of Fajardo. Given how great Fajardo has been this conference, especially in the Finals, it will be hard for Ginebra to pass on Slaughter. Fajardo is averaging 18.5pts and 14.5rebs (5 offensive) per game in the Finals against SanMig's Pingris, De Ocampo, Reavis and Devance. Slaughter could be as good or better than that. Something hard to walk away from.

His potential to be as good as Fajardo is greater than him becoming like Feihl, even without the tutelage of a premier big man. Even the stints he had with the 2 Gilas teams under Toroman and Reyes have helped his game. He has more upside than downside.

Ang magiging problema ng Ginebra is the management. The coaches really have no say when it comes to player recruitment ng San Miguel teams.

The missed FT's aside, PETRON coach Gee Abanilla lost Game7 for his team ....... SMC's defense can see PETRON's offense a mile away.

PETRON practically ran just 2 plays all game long ....... dump it to Fajardo OR isoball for Milsap. Even in the 2nd half when SMC simply crowded either Fajardo or Milsap, Gee Abanilla never adjusted.

PETRON needs to do a hundred more blatantly lopsided trades to win that elusive championship.

it seems it was only millsap and and fajardo who wants to win, santos was another no show in this game (in fairness as was james yap who missed 2 crucial ft's that could've iced the game).i don't know if coach gee was to blame or the other superstars on that team (except for cabagnot who seems to be not 100%).props goes to blakely and pingris.special mention should go to de vance, simon and ydo for those crucial plays.great defense by petron,i think the game changer was the foul trouble of millsap.congrats to san mig and my fave coach tim cone

To say that only Fajardo and Milsap wanted to win would be disrespect to the Petron players. They played their hearts out and followed Abanilla's instructions. As early as the 2nd quarter, it was obvious that their main play was dropping the ball to Fajardo. If that didn't materialize then Milsap would try to drive in.

Fajardo may be big and strong but he is not that quick. He may have good footwork but he does not have an explosive first step which could leave his defenders behind. It was very easy for San Mig's players to clog the lane  once Fajardo received the ball down low. Fajardo has yet to develop passing skills like Ildefonso.

Milsap is quick but not that strong. He could not bulldoze his way to the basket. He almost always found himself in trouble when driving to the basket. He had to work hard just to get by the gauntlet of defenders put up against him. And at the end, it seemed that the pressure of the situation got to him.

With the offense focused on Fajardo and Milsap, Arwind Santos' offensive game was nowhere in sight. Santos cannot drive to the basket like Lassiter can. He needs to be set up for his jump shots. But in this championship series, he barely got the ball when he was free and where he could be effective. There were lots of instances where he never even got to hold the ball in their offense. He  also gets his points from offensive putbacks, but against Blakely and Pingris, who are monster rebounders, and Devance and Yancy de Ocampo, who excel in boxing out, it was very difficult for him.

But the real game changer was Abanilla's decision to shorten the rotation. Fajardo was sapped making him miss free throws. Lassiter was getting frustrated and was at the point of losing control emotionally. Cabagnot could hardly run and yet he still played a lot of minutes. Santos was spent trying to contain Blakely all night long. Tubid , Kramer, Lutz saw limited playing time. At the end, San Mig had the fresher players.

well i meant no disrespect to petron players that's why i said i don't know who's to blame.masyado nga nagrely si abanilla dun kay fajardo and millsap.it's a mystery na sa dinami dami ng good players na nakuha ng petron thru trade e kay millsap and fajardo lang naka focus yung offense nila.sabi nga ni coach chot before the game, the x factor could be denok miranda (if he gets playing time) but yun nga di naman sya pinasok ni abanilla.problema kasi ng petron papalit palit na ng players, madalas din sila magpalit ng coach.
kabado pa naman ako nung una as a sanmig fan kasi mataas madalas yata matalo ng mga rookie coach si tim cone (reyes and gregorio if i'm not mistaken) sa finals.

Like I said, majority of the blame should be placed on Gee Abanilla ....... a Fajardo or Milsap isoball can get you places, but Tim Cone is too good a coach not to adjust quickly.

Some blame should also be placed on the SG's Lassiter, Lutz & Tubid ...... they suddenly went gun-shy during the 2nd half, even when SMC the defense was religiously sagging on Fajardo and Milsap.

Another season finished in Comm. Cheato Salud's PBA ....... looking forward to the upcoming rookie draft - an opportunity for rookies to make it to the big league and the farm-teams (BARAKO, AIR21 & GPORT) to make millions once again.
