I think he's one of the pioneers, I was wondering where he is now? Probably in his 70s or 80s
Even he has this Chinese accent in an English show that man has charisma.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Yan

Local naman, not sure about the exact show name but the Daza's, Sylvia Reynoso Gala, Henny Sison.
Sino pa ba? I don't put too much attention on the new ones because they're wannabes.
These are the shows on Sunday mornings after going to mass  ;D

Hey Indie, what's the story behind Rob Pengson being a primadona? I have met his wife prior to their relationship.

Yeah! I don't know if I'm drooling from the food or Giada  ;D
May pagka "flirt" talaga eh when describing the ingredients or food
Not sure if they are called "food orgasm"  :D

I prefer Sandy Daza among the local hosts though I'm not sure if he's still airing. He makes things look simple and practical.

I used to enjoy Pengson's but the show tries too hard to be posh and sophisticated.

According to what I've heard he refuses some sponsorships even if it's soft-sell because he claims some products have a cheap reputation. Bumblebee hit it right on the head, he tries to be posh and sophisticated. It's not like he's David Pardo de Ayala or Norbert Gandler, or even Margarita Fores. And yet, he endorsed KFC.

+1 kay sir krets, to keep us gentlemanyaks glued. LOL

lalo na when she's baking. pag minimix na nya yung batter or nagbabate ng itlog, di ko mapigilang tumitig. jiggly eh.  ::)

@topic

i like watching barefoot contessa din. pero not because of the host, because of the food na talaga.  ;D

and throwdown pa pala.

Giada's ok but she's too "Hollywood-y" for me (most of the Food Network people are). I still prefer Nigella Lawson, or that hot new cooking mama, Laura Calder (French Food at Home)--nothing beats a woman with an English or French accent that describes food for me.

Oh yeah, Laura Calder. Saw her in one of her shows wearing a sundress and her underarms were au naturel. Kind of a turn on if you're that pretty. :)

Ah talaga, yikes! Thanks Indie! I saw him on mall tours endorsing something a few years ago. He's just trying to be over the top.

Kita mo naman agad yung niluluto kung masarap eh. And I believe he's not one of the best we have. But I'm glad we're raising our bars with new and talented chefs in the country. There are a lot of culinary schools training our younger generation to be good chefs and cooks one day. During the 80s and 90s some families will send their children to Switzerland and France just to learn their ways. I think Enderun has an in-house chef from France teaching students here.

There's this lady chef in Q, medyo cutie pie hehe parang nahijack ang Hot or Not thread

Yes! Everytime I would watch an episode I would look for a good burger joint  ;D
Most episodes are ridiculous and bordering on gluttony. Well that's what the show is all about, gluttony!  ;D

I like Man vs. Food as well. Pero favorite ko No Reservations and Bizarre Foods though these shows are more of eating and travelling than cooking. Yung Spoon ni Janice De Belen? hehehe conceren ko lang talaga with local cooking shows the recipe is dependent on the sponsors eh. kaya minsan parang pilit.
