NCIS: Los Angeles

For the NCIS: Los Angeles episode that airs tonight, not one, not two, but four of the main cast's mothers will play bit parts in one scene.

Pictured below are Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen, Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J posing behind their respective moms, Katia Barker, Jeanne Olsen, Julie O’Donnell, and Ondrea Smith.

NCIS: Los Angeles will be getting its own spin-off series that will be introduced in a two-part episode to be aired later this season. The episodes will serve as a backdoor pilot that will introduce new characters--a mobile team of agents who live and work together as they travel the country and solve crimes.

The new series will be the latest in the NCIS franchise; NCIS: Los Angeles is a spin-off of NCIS, which was itself a spin-off of JAG.

NCIS: Los Angeles will get their own spinoff with a two-part episode next week that introduces the NCIS: Red team, which is a mobile NCIS unit that travels around the country doing classified missions. The new team will include John Corbett, Gillian Alexy, Kim Raver, Scott Grimes, Kenneth Mitchell, Edwin Hodge, and Miguel Ferrer, who will do double duty as Assistant Director Owen Granger.

LOL, so that's why Wade left Cougar Town  ;D

finally, the resolution to Kensi Blye's long sojourn in Afghanistan...this plotline was also a good example of how not to write off one of your main characters just because she's pregnant. Daniela Ruah shot most of her scenes in advance and gave birth last December, returning to work several months later. Yet her character was never absent from the show because we saw her every single week--good job!

A similar thing also happened in Hawaii Five-0 recently when Grace Park became pregnant, so they had her character go on the run from the Yakuza.

R.I.P. Miguel Ferrer, who plays Asst. Director Owen Granger in this series, one of the remaining regular network procedurals that I still watch. His appearance and slurred speech was a cause of concern to viewers during the last few seasons, as his character was revealed to be dying from cancer. I guess his condition was known to the show's producers as they prepared for his character to depart the show, and it's admirable that he kept going throughout.

The last episode was the penultimate episode in the long-runing "Mole" arc of the series, and Granger was stabbed--I guess he'll either recover and retire from service, or he'll die.
