‘Resident Evil’ Series Canceled By Netflix After One Season

Netflix has opted not to order a second season of Resident Evil, its action horror series loosely based on the popular video game franchise. The news, which comes a month and a half after the series’ July 14 release, is not entirely surprising as the drama did not have a particularly strong showing on Netflix’s Top 10 and cost vs. viewing is the streamer’s leading renewal criterion.

‘DC’s Stargirl’ Will End After Season 3 At The CW

DC’s Stargirl is coming to an end. The series will conclude with its third season, which is currently airing on The CW.

New episodes will continue to air on Wednesdays through December 7.

The cancellation of DC’s Stargirl comes less than a month after Nexstar Media Group completed its acquisition of the network and is the latest series coming to an end. It joins the likes of series such as The Flash, Riverdale and Nancy Drew, which are also finishing.

Deadline understands the team behind DC’s Stargirl, like Nancy Drew, was given an early indication that this might be the final season and to write an ending that would reflect that. The decision is thought to have been made by Nexstar executives.

I guess caused by the change of ownership and their new target market. From another article....

Nexstar Lays Off At Least 30 CW Employees

It’s also expected The CW, long the home of iconic teen content like “Supernatural” and “Gossip Girl” and other YA dramas, will be shifting its strategy to unscripted fare and news programming. The network has already canceled several shows this year, including “4400,” “Batwoman,” “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Stargirl,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” “In the Dark,” “Legacies,” “Legends of the Hidden Temple,” “Nancy Drew,” “Naomi,” “Roswell, New Mexico” and “Tom Swift,” as well as giving final season orders to “Riverdale” and “The Flash.”

‘Westworld’ Canceled at HBO After Four Seasons

HBO has canceled “Westworld” after four seasons, the network announced Friday. The news comes just under three months after the series aired its Season 4 finale Aug. 14.

Variety is told a multitude of factors went into the decision to end the sci-drama, including the production’s hefty price tag, combined with dwindling viewership and an ongoing evaluation of programming across the board at HBO’s new parent, Warner Bros. Discovery.
