In the realm of audio fanatics, I am what you call a SET (Single Ended Triode) tube type of guy. You cannot fully replicate the golden honey dripping tone emanating from a really sweet triode tube. But if you must build an amp utilizing a pentode then the closest to a SET, in my opinion, would be the venerable EL-84. That is why when I see masterpieces like this by Daddy J I just have to share the image. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
