World of Wong Kar Wai Blu-ray

The Criterion Collection has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray World of Wong Kar Wai (1988-2004). The seven-disc box set will be available for purchase on March 23, 2021.

^ Yes! Waiting for this! However, Criterion should have used this opportunity to shift to real 4K discs. Wong Kar Wai's gorgeous visuals should look wonderful in true 4K UHD.

The Criterion Collection has announced that it will release on Blu-ray Melvin Van Peebles: Four Films. The five-disc box set will be available for purchase on September 28.

The films are: The Story Of A Three Day Pass (1967); Watermelon Man (1970); Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song (1971); and Don't Play Us Cheap (1973).

Citizen Kane to lead Criterion's First 4K Slate

Criterion has announced its first 4K Ultra HD releases, a six-film slate that includes Citizen Kane, Menace II Society, The Piano, Mulholland Dr., The Red Shoes, and A Hard Day’s Night. The first of these editions and their special features will be detailed in the November 2021 announcement next week, with others to follow in subsequent months.

As for the new Criterion 4K titles, eyeing Citizen Kane and Menace II Society, but seems the price tags will be quite steep though..... $:-\$

Wait for the 50% sales. Barnes & Noble have them twice a year. The last one just ended. The next one is around November, near Christmas. And the Criterion site have periodical 24 hour flash sales.

I hope this isn't just a rumor:

We’re also hearing that a new 4K restoration of Miloš Forman’s Amadeus (1984) might be coming in the months ahead from Criterion, licensed to them by Warner Bros. This would include at least the theatrical version, which Forman ultimately considered to be his official director’s cut. (What’s been commonly known as the director’s cut was apparently felt by Forman to be a “DVD Cut” only.)

The Criterion Collection reports a problem with Blu-ray disc 1 in all Citizen Kane editions that affects the contrast in the feature film, starting around the 30-minute mark and lasting until the end of the film.
