OPPO BDP95......
eto na bespren: been busy lately so when i got some few hours freetime last weekend, i finally got to test the much talked audiophile oppo bdp95. for video quality, hands down, nothing beats the oppo brand. on the audio side of it, then....... ive only tested the unit with just 3 cds: an eva cassidy cd, audiophile voices 6, and jenifer warnes famous blue raincoat. the bdp95 is a very neutral player so it can blend almost on any setup. clear highs and mids to die for, this bdp is way above its price range on audio quality, maybe beyond an olive 04 could do, but fell short. this bdp95 is bass shy. so if your into rock and heavy bass music, then this player is not for you. but if your into vocals and the audiophile side of music then you have to consider this player, may free ka pa na exellent bdp player. if your sytem has tone controls and can get away with bass management, then its cured. but i prefer a system that shows the capabilty of certain equipment without me toying with the final result. on a scale of 1-10, as bd player, its an 8 for me for not having an hdmi in. as an audio player, its also an 8. overall this oppo offers fantastic value being an exellent bd player and a very good cdp.
P.S. using a luxman tube preamp and kt120 monos, head to head with my lenco/glider/ear analog combo.......the oppo bdp95, sad to say, doesnt even come close.
